Any new Verizon Androids before January?

When I say already made, I mean the prototype, they have 2 already made. All they are waiting on is on production and make more, and then sell them to Verizon.

And word from the HTC guy on the Incredible? Possible release date? Also, I know you mentioned that it is the same as the Passion, is it the same as the leaked pics we got of the Bravo?

I am just hoping so badly that Verizon gets this phone.

If they don't announce something pretty soon and the Nexus One comes out unlocked or even subsidized on T-Mobile when there has been no news out of the Verizon camp with an alternative, then I bet we will see a lot of defectors.

As soon as I know you guys will know.

Nexus will not come to Verizon for sure. Verizon did not want to take it on for various reasons, including the soon about to be signed contract with Apple.

not sure what im gonna do by the 15th or whenever the holiday return date is up. either keep the eris or return it and go back to my old phone till something pops up.

I sent mine back; it was/is due by the 6th of January. I figured I'll wait to see how 2x affects some of the bugs, plus maybe we'll have a better idea if other phones will be released. If 2x seems to help, I'll take the plunge again (using my upgrade.)

It was just too buggy to hang on to right now; hopefully the upgrade will fix that.

any speculation that another android phone from htc will be coming in january? i keep hearing that they have multiple phones coming out "very early 2010" - including one high end to add to motorola's droid, but im not sure what they consider as very early. i know no one can give a direct answer, but from what i read, it seems almost better to wait for january to come around. ive used both the eris and droid and feel one is too 'lightweight' in terms of power and the other imo has design flaws i can't get over (box). i am anxious however because the phone is important for me to keep up with college tasks and assignments.

don't know what im looking for here in terms of a response, just curious about what is coming (and i heard a lot is coming).

I was speaking w/ 611 last night and asked about new android phones. I was told no new androids will be released anytime soon.

611 is Customer Care, and exactly that is what they do "Customer Service" not sales, it's all in a need to know basis, just because they work for Verizon doesn't mean they know everything going on. Customer Care might know of new features that Verizon will be coming out with because it relates to their department but not new phones, they have nothing to do with new phones.

With that being said, I spoke to the HTC rep and HTC is keeping things really really quiet. But there is an Android 2.1 phone coming out early January but he has no additional info on it as they are not releasing that info yet.

This is the e-mail I received from him.

"Hey Sam,
Nothing yet. All I know is that something with Android 2.1 is going to come out in the first half of January. They didn’t give us any details on it yet. I will e-mail you as soon as I hear anything.

Have a great Christmas amigo.

Andrew

if only i could call the post above reliable and accurate, i'd be ready to take my htc phone back to the store before the holiday deadline. seems accurate according to the rumors that htc has at least 2 android phones coming to the verizon network in 'very early 2010'.. and id say that is considered very early.. if this is the 'htc that will add to the high-end android phones of verizon', im hyped... but man, its so hard to believe people these days. all i can do is keep my fingers crossed.

i know the email doesn't specify, but any idea what phone company this android 2.1 would/might come out on? maybe this rep only works with a certain company? thanks for your efforts, FD!

considering htc has been saying a 'very early 2010' release of a high-end htc android phone for verizon. i would not doubt (if this is not just a rumor or false) that it would be coming to verizon. this would definitely fill the void of one of the two htc phones coming out for verizon within very early 2010. i hope its the high-end model people have been rumored of hearing.

The VZW National Account Rep for our company is also saying we will see at least 1 more Android device in the month of January. She is generally on point with the info she provides and allowed us to sample prototypes of the Droid and Eris well before they were publicly released.

My inquiry was about Android phones in general but I still have a great interest in an Android version of the HD2 with the 4"3 screen. I will not be buying until something like this becomes available even though I'm just dying to do horrible things to my Storm 1 with my golf clubs.....

i hear you keep quoting the information of "htc will be releasing 2 phones for vzw early in january 2010". is this from an article i missed? not saying your making it up, just want to read the article/source so i can stay as up to date as possible.

this is one thing i am for sure of, im not sure where i read it for i been doing too much reading on these phones trying to make up my mind on what to do. but it is known that htc is planning on putting out another higher end verizon android very early 2010.. once again, im not positive where i read it but im sure someone else has seen it or heard it. and when i say 'very early', i mean 'very early' (direct quote).. not just 'early' lol. i will try to find a source for you tonight but its coming (a name of htc incredible has already been lurking around). if someone else has heard this please let me know where i read this, i would like to know also for its been embedded in my brain these past few days. it has been the only reason i have not returned my eris for a droid yet, im patiently waiting to see if htc will make any further moves. otherwise, im not going to wait because as they say, "theres going to always be another more advanced phone coming out"

He (the HTC rep) has to be talking about the Nexus One. I can't imagine something else HTC-branded would debut Android 2.1 ahead of this phone. Perhaps if the Nexus One debuts in the first half of January, HTC will greenlight their high end Android phone for Verizon in the second half of the month.

This is the HTC Rep for Verizon Wireless. And obviously he knows I work for Verizon so he is not going to share other phones that are coming out on other cell carriers with me.

I will keep you guys updated.

Ok, got'cha. I wasn't aware of all the verizon links in this story, my fault. This definitely encouraging news tho for us verizon customers. Thanks a ton for all your communication with us about your "inside information" :)

I hope we do see something along the lines of a HTC phone with android 2.1, 3.7 screen, 5mp camera with LED flash, and 1ghz snapdragon processor like we've been hearing. I got an Eris now and love it. However, if we do get what I just mentioned come out in early January, I will be exchanging my Eris.

I'm still deciding between waiting it out, getting an Eris with the hopes of an exchange, or trying to get an Eris straight up on Ebay with the hopes of flipping it to recup some of the cost. Waiting is painful, but I'm worried that if I get an Eris now from Verizon, it'll be sometime early Feb that this new phone will come out and I'll be SOL on the exchange/return and stuck with a 2 year contract. I'm not buying this HTC superphone outright because I'm sure it'll be somewhere in the ballpark of $600 w/o contract. If they'd just release the thing, they could charge up to $299 and I'd buy it sight unseen.

Now, FatedDistress, we haven't seen this new HTC phone for Verizon come through the FCC. Makes me wonder if they're still not set on the hardware or they're having problems. Sounds like Verizon is in a "we're ready when you are" mode if they wanted to go forward as early as Dec 6th? I guess we can expect that there's no concern about interfering with Droid sales?

this next phone is simply called the 'second high-end android phone' from verizon. basically, if your not happy with the 2year old eris hardware or the droids form, you will now have another option, although it will be in the 'high end' as the droid is. as for your comment about being 'SOL' with the eris, there's always gonna be something bigger/faster/more advanced coming out - don't play the waiting game for too long or you'll get something and then the next something will come out and itll be endless. get something your satisfied with and stick to it. as for release dates are concerned.. the 'very early 2010' for another android phone is close, in fact, i heard from reliable people that there is one more android phone coming out in january and that it will be by htc. of course, no one knows FOR CERTAIN because the competition in the mobile business is fierce right now. but im not going to be surprised when i see a another verizon android in january.

personally, i was not aware of certain things about the eris that i am now familiar with. (particularly hardware and SENSE issues).. i am taking my phone back within a week or two and going back to my LG for a couple weeks until i made a more thorough decision (which will either be the droid -- open source ftw -- or the new phone that will be coming out). so maybe u have an older phone u been using prior to the eris u can use if ur 30 days run out and ur waiting a week for a new phone?
