Im curious as to how some say that if you buy it for 530 dollars then you get to pay about 20 dollars a month cheaper. If you pay the 20 dollars a month cheaper, are you locked into a contract? I want to get the Nexus One, but I don't want to be locked into a contract and can't quite figure it out. I have been researching this phone a long with all of you for about a month and a half and i'm really excited Thanks for the help guys!

a. 500 minutes w/ unlimited text/data - $59.99
b. 1000 minutes w/ unlimited text/data - $69.99
c. Unlimited everything - $79.99

You are NOT locked to a contract.

Then again we never know exactly what's coming on Tuesday... As of now, assuming you purchase the phone unlocked for $530, you will be able to use the no contract even more plus plans

The T-Mobile prepaid sidekick plan is $1 per day for unlimited text and data + $0.15 per minute voice calls. It's an AWESOME deal and not a contract.

You should be able to get these Even More Plus plans for the N1 if you buy the N1 unlocked.

I am on a family plan right now and I have read speculation that the N1 wont work that way. I could see them not subsidizing and I would have to pay the 530... but what possible way could they prevent an unlocked phone from working on a family plan? I just pop my sim card in and it should work I would think.

Yeah if you buy it unlocked you can use whatever you want... if you have simcard from Europe/Asia you can use it too... along with your outrageous roaming charges

Yep, they cannot stop an unlocked phone from working on a family plan. So you would need to pay the $530 to get it on a family plan.

Heck, you can even pop a family plan SIM into a locked N1 and it would work. The problem is that then you would be paying for two plans .

I believe there is no "locked" or "unlocked" N1. Unlike the iPhone which requires a software mod to unlock it, every N1 is free to use with any GSM provider. The "locked N1" is simply an N1 purchased alongside a 2 year $80 T-Mobile plan. You are free to do whatever you want with that "locked N1" phone (even take it to AT&T), but you will be locked into that 2 year price (or faced with an early termination fee.

I still hope this isnt true. I'm on a family plan an that cant change. But I'm not under contract. I'd be willing to renew my contract for a discount on this phone. I don't see why they would limit this to that ONE plan? Doesnt make a lot of sense. Not just family vs individual but also not letting someone pick their minutes? Only 500 isnt enough for some people.

Will just have to wait to see I guess.

Meh, Sidekick plan is 54.99/mo and voice calls are $.20/min... This probably changed. It doesn't really make it feasible if the Even More Plus 500 unlimited web and messaging is only 59.99... But then again I'll be using more than 25 minutes per month... LOL.

Yeah Just go to the store and say you wanna sign up for even more plus plan... it's no contract plan so they will just give your sim card

It's still under YOUR NAME and YOUR ADDRESS.... and YOU'RE PAYING the bill so naturally they want to know whether you can pay for it

Sorry for delay. Im in CA (side note it was almost 80 degrees outside today). I couldnt go to store until I got off work. I signed up for a month to month plan (59.99, 69.99 or 79.99) and they gave me a sim card. You pay in advance. I walked out of store within 5 minutes - very easy. This is a dream come true for me to have the EU model of buying phone and month to month plan.

They still run a credit check even though there is no contract. You are basically still signing up for service and they need to determine if you are prepay or postpay. Prepay would be a FlexPay plan where you pay the rate before the billing cycle begins.

i was wondering, if i buy the unlocked for $530 (which is cheaper in the long run, then gettin the discounted one w/ 2 year contract for $180), and my current $9.99 data plan will work with N1 or not? Currently I own a Nokia N900, and the $9.99 data plan works great and I get 3.5g speeds too. This info. would be very crucial in making up my mind about getting this phone or not. I would pay 29.99 (500 mins) + 9.99 (1,000 texts) + 9.99 (data) = $49.97/mo. where as if i go with the non-contract then i'd pay $59.99 (that's savings of $10 per month).

They ran a credit check on me just 10 days or so ago when I signed up for the EM+ plan (they came back and said good for 10 lines, didn't know they allowed that many lines on one account). I'd perhaps double check the paper work you received to verify it is what you were looking for.

This is exactly what happened to me, they didn't offer me an option or anything, they just signed me up for flexpay.

Is there any difference whether you're on EM+ w/ flexpay or without ... it's the same service, right?

One thing I noticed, when you register your online account ... it shows the web service as "Blackberry unlimited internet w/ flexpay" or something like that.

it also shows "$5 in my flexpay account"

What does that mean?
