Installed Sholes.info ROM 1.0-RC1 and SPRecovery 0.99.2b

Playing around with it. It's the latest/greatest release from Sholes.

This 2.0.1 ROM includes:

• OPTIMIZATION (all APKs and JARs in /system are fully optimized, to provide vast speed improvements)
• 2.1 Keyboard which includes Voice Dictation (ported by Berzerker)
• 2.1 Gallery app (credit to [mbm])
• 2.1 Music app (credit to jinx10000)
• 2.1 Clock app (replaces AlarmClock and the Multimedia Dock) (credit to jinx10000)
• 2.1 News/Weather Widget
• 2.1 Launcher (v1.1a (adds stability fixes)) (credit to xeudoxus)
• 2.0.1 Launcher (v1.1a (slightly smaller and includes auto-rotate w/ keyboard closed)) (credit to xeudoxus)
• Multi-Touch Browser (reverted back to stable lib file to remove bugs) (credit to t3hSteve)
• Brightness hack (includes app to edit brightness levels (credit to xeudous and jinx10000)
• YouTube HQ default hack
• Swype Keyboard
• WiFi-Tethering (additional setup required, instructions provided)
• Ability to remove potentially unwanted apps.

But it is not without bugs. My Swype isn't working.
Just having fun playin' though . . .

have people been having better luck with this rom that the nexus rom from humancy?

I am currently using hte 2.1 rom and the only annoying issue i have is the known keyboard light issue and some small amount of lag witht he widgets refreshing when going back to the home screen.

How's the speed on the Sholes ROM...I have all the 2.1 apps in it already installed on my rooted 2.01 Droid, but would give the Sholes ROM a try if the optimizations they claim they have really make a difference. If it adds speed that would be nice.

Welp . . . I don't know about anyone else, but I'm dumping this ROM. It is by far buggier than either 2.1 ROM I had installed. Everything is crashing on it!!! No big deal ... another day, another ROM.

I agree. I tried this ROM, but I found birdman's previous ROMS were much better than this combined effort with the Sholes.info team.

So I just went back to v4 of birdman's ROM. No problems here.

So I just went back to v4 of birdman's ROM. No problems here.

Based in part on your comment I decided to try v4...here's what I did, wondering if you can confirm what i have on my phone now.

I wiped data/cache, then did an install w/the v4 update.zip.

Rebooted and sure enough, the animated "X" boot animation had changed back to the standard Droid/eye animation. I didn't log into my gmail account when I booted up. Home page came up w/the default set of five or so icons and the google search bar.

Decided I didn't want to mess w/reinstalling my email accounts, etc., to I booted back to recovery and did a nandroid restore of Data.

Rebooted and (surprise) when the phone started up it reverted back to the 2.1 animated sequence (the "X"). All my apps had been restored along w/my email accounts, SMS/call data, etc.

I was surprised that all my apps were restored by restoring Data from Nandroid...now I'm curious what else was restored that I may not be aware of, and whether I'm really running V4 anymore or not, if you know what I mean.

Appreciate any clarity someone can shed on what exactly was restored when I did the Nandroid Data restore....

I have been using this since this morning at about 2am and its been great. Super peppy and no lag whatsoever. I am very happy BUT voice search force closes on launch. Other than that I have seen no issues.

A few notes, it was replacing Birdmans v4 but I did wipe before installing. Also I did not install several of the options including the 2.1 launch and swype.

I've been out of the loop for a few days, just caught up on all the new 2.0.1 mixed with 2.1 ROM's, and the espresso ROM (lots of bugs so far). I'm still using HC 2.1 and am happy as can be with it after....how long has it been out 1-2 weeks? I have adjusted to the keyboard fix, hitting the power button twice to activate, plus with the speech to text feature I rarely need to type manually. I would like someone to run the OPTIpng stuff on this ROM though to see how it helps.
