Help [FIXED!] How to get Froyo if your OTA is failing!

well I gave up. tried different cables, different computers and never got past the screen I posted on page 2 of this thread.
tried Verizon and tried Samsung. Samsung said I needed to send it to them. Verizon wanted 99.00 for another phone. so mine is now with UPS and headed to Texas. bummer a week with no phone

can anyone confirm is the reason a lot of us are having trouble is because we were rooted?
it sure seems that every time there is an update it turns into a FUBAR

If you rooted your phone, you did it yourself... Updates are just updates.. Rooting is compltely different.

Thats great that he has compiled the Froyo update in a zip file so quick :).

I would still be curious to know when you flash to DL09 if you can install any updates OTA.

Did you ever root your phone?

I could try the DL09 ODIN package + updates to see if it works...(phone has never been rooted).

Question though - I noticed that the file size of the XDA posted DL09 package is 419MB, but the file posted above is only 345MB...which one should I choose?

Yeah my phone had never been rooted, im in the process doing the update.zip sd card method but its doing the same thing, it gets stuck about the 30%.

The DL09 Update on mega-upload was from adrynalyne's original DL09 OTA source. They might just be compressed differently and it was compiled by a different person.

I would just use the XDA download link as it is probably faster.

Still amazes me all these issues on non rooted phones....

Ye the DL09 odin good, i tried the update.zip sd card method and the ota method, no go, do they have a odin file for ea28?

Still failing on the modem update huh???? Try to hit up adrynalyne over at XDA or some of the people there to see if anyone else has an issue installing the EA28 update from the update.zip.

Ill take a look for you as well.

Ok, let me explain.... DI01 was the offical release from Verizon... DL09 was an update, EA28 is EXACTLY the same as DL09 except they fixed the pattern unlock for the emergency calls. They just simply called it something different.

When you had your phone did it already come with EA28 when you bought it? Or were you ever able to previously update to DL09 and EA28??

I started with 2.1 EA28 stock on my phone, numerous attempts to do the OTA froyo update failed, so i reflashed my phone via Odin first to DI01 then DL09 to try and still no go when tryin the OTA to get back to EA28 so i could do the froyo update but still no go, also tried to through the sd card on safe mode. I end up the same place on all the methods "updating modem" on unpacking screen.

Just to confirm - I also just tried the XDA DL09 (flashed OK), then tried the OTA upgrade to EA28 (the download this time is only 200kb or so).

Same result - progress bar hangs at a 'updating modem...'. Some 20+ minutes later, phone finally restarts. No luck.

Now at: Baseband version EA28, Build Number DL09.

Sorry here you go: http://67.55.71.223/DI01package3.tar

DL link is dead :( it just times out. Any mirrors?

And to clarify, This will go back to 100% stock regardless of current ROM, radio, etc correct?

Yes it will replace everything back to DI01 bone stock, and all files flashed.

You should already have DI01, OR EA28.. SOme people still have DL09 if they have never upgraded to the EA28 (emergency call fix)

Thanks for all your help, I was only getting parts of the DL01 file. I downloaded many time, late yesterday I received the entire 455mb file. Once I had the full file everything went well! If anyone is having problems with the DL01 package check the size and make sure it's 455mb.
Thanks again for all your help!

I was running EB01 so I ODIN'd to DI01 and DL09 but with both I could not get any OTA updates. I keep getting "server unavailable". I've tried everything, wiping, formatting, etc. and still the same problem. I definitely was able to get OTA updates when I was on stock eclair before EB01. I'm out of ideas and frustrated at this point, any ideas?
