Verizon denies us the SGSII

Wow, just wow... I should see what they say on Monday.
But if this is true and there is no phones like Celox, Prime in Q4, I will go to AT&T or Sprint seriously.

My feelings exactly. I think the tip is legit, though, since it was first reported by the Wall Street Journal with confirmation from a Verizon spokesperson.

My sister works for Verizon. I just sent her a text message saying she works for stupid idiots.

If Prime isn't announced SOON, I'm switching to Sprint before they decide to do tiered data plans too.

Verizon has the best network, but it appears they'll have the worst phones. Idiots.

There is more interesting news... BGR claims that even though Verizon is passing on Galaxy S II, it will have a very similar Samsung phone launching soon... whatever that means...

Exclusive: Verizon passes on GALAXY S II, but 'similar' Samsung phone launching soon

Did they Bing it up or something???

Interesting. Soon better mean freaking soon. The way Verizon and their codependent bed buddy Moto go about doing things, "soon" means sometime before the next year.

Verizon should not underestimate how pissed a lot of people are going to be. They better release, or at least specifically and concretely announce, something really fast.

I texted my Verizon-employee sister earlier to rant about how stupid her company was and that she is degrading herself by working for them, and she texted back:

vzw has good reason. be patient. did it ever occur to you that SGSII is a downgrade from upcoming Samsung phone on vzw?

This has me thinking that perhaps there is a better Samsung phone on the pipeline. I can't get any more out of her, and I doubt she knows anything. But if the Prime is coming out any time before November 1, I can forgive Verizon. If not, Sprint will win a couple of new customers.

WTH????????? Are they TRYING to make me switch providers????

Very disappointed, but about par for the course for Verizon. Like you said bluefire, only way Verizon rectifies this is if they get Nexus Prime, and is basically a SGSII with vanilla android. Then all is forgiven.

If you guys haven't learned by now that VZW does things at their own pace, on their own terms, and don't care about "their" customers because the cash cow keeps getting fed (well) regardless...then I don't know what to tell you. You can say sayonara all you want, and even mean it and do it; makes no difference to them 'cause there is always someone there to take your place. Not a fanboi, just a realist.

i couldnt really care what wsj says. ill wait till 29th and panic then if i have to. there's plenty of time for that later. iirc, wsj were also the source for rumor that verizon might get the sgs2 first, so idc what they say really.

and i dont care for a verizon spokesperson saying really vague statements that basically reads "hey gais you should buy droid charge for now". You can take that as "you should buy droid charge cause we're never gonna really another samsung phone until the end of time" or "you should buy droid charge for the time being because im not gonna tell you whats being released week from now" There's so many ways to play that word game because theyre spokespeople after all. I dont give a crap about what they say unless its a straight up YES or NO answer.

like i said 4 more days. Maybe not even then we'll have clear answers, cause they're never really honest about what their plans are. Sometimes i think its just better not to know what heck is going on and just plain ol' wait.

Well I think all the evidence points to it not being released on Verizon because nothing with SGSII specs has passed through the FCC with verizon specs. The SGSII handsets for the other 3 carriers have been already seen in leaked pics and/or FCC docs detailing their specs. For a couple of weeks we were all engaging in some wishful thinking that maybe the Verizon version had managed to slip through the FCC without tipping anyone off, but now we know that it never existed in the first place.

If I don't see anything with LTE and super-specs passing through the FCC in the next 36 days, I'll know not to expect anything in October for Verizon. No one will panic regardless, I don't think. People will just have to decide whether to bend over and take the Bionic up the you know what, and say "Thank you, Mr. Big Red, can I have some more?" or jump ship and head over to Sprint while they still have unlimited data.

I'm just a little sick of Verizon right now. We all make fun of the Apple fanboys because they're such sheep, but Verizon does the same to us, letting us know what phones we can and can't have. Samsung, I'm sure, was more than willing to release the SGSII on Verizon; it means a boatload of more money for them. But Daddy said no. And if Daddy says something, that's it. Same thing happened with Nexus One. And Nexus S.

I hope this is not due to some kind of marketing agreement with Motorola. Why would they pass on SGS II but release a very similar phone "soon". Hope it will at least have LTE.

For what its worth I was told a month and a half ago that a high end Samsung handset was coming to Verizon equipped with LTE. I assumed it was the Galaxy SII because I wasn't given the name. I trust the people who gave me the info.

So I'm not writing anything off at this time.

Here in US, phone makers are at the mercy of wireless carriers but it's the other way around oversea mostly. Also verizon using CDMA/EvDo 3G and most thorou testing procedure makes new phones even more delayed.

How can they claim to have such thorough testing procedures and still release the Thunderbolt and Revolution?

The Revolution 2 is nothing but a fix and/or apology.

I hope whoever told you that is right. Maybe something like Celox, SGS2 plus, prime that samsung might unveil in Berlin? I need glimpse of any hope as leaving verizon would be my last resort...

I'm so saddened by this.

I feel like VZ has all the potential in the world. They have a very strong network and solid cust service. We all know their prices are higher but as consumers we accept that as part of the package.

The one part missing is a top-end, show stopper of a phone! I've seen the claim many times and even thought some of their phones were good, none BLEW me away.

Please let the rumors be true about the Prime! I'll continue to hold out until I see a 4G phone with a dual core processor, 1gig of ram, and some type of an internal gpu.
