Root [ROM v3] 2.3.7 GingerXperia Revolution ROM for X8

so, installing worked for me.
now i'm booting Gingerbread and I've been stuck in the boot for like 20 minutes.. The fancy new xperia-screen with its melody just starts over and over again.. hint?

Hi,

If you are in a boot loop.
A) You got an incompatible baseband 006 & you need to use the FlashTool and flash baseband 015.
OR
B) You did not do a factory reset (full wipe) using xRecovery before you flashed the custom rom.

cheers :)

Hi Gabeyong, to start with I wanna commend you on all the time you spend on the forums helping people, its much appreciated though some may not say it enough!!

Was hoping you could help me with this problem..

I installed the new gingerxperiav5-update.zip to my X8 earlier tonight and it worked for about 10 minutes, then crashed and got stuck on SE startup screen for about 15min, I then released battery and when i put it back in I managed to get it to Xrecovery, I restored my backup made with Xrecovery from earlier and when i rebooted it has become permanently stuck on SE startup, I cant cat access Xrecovery no matter how many times i press back button, I've attempted this about 10 times now..

I have been looking throught the xda forums for help and everyone keeps recommending either SEUS/PC Companion (which i've tried and it will not detect my phone) or Flashtool. I've downloaded Flashtool_0.2.8.0 but it doesnt do anything (ie I cant open anything to add the .ftf file to) when i try to extract it (winrar comes up in french for some strange reason too), I then downloaded Flashtool_0.2.9.1 and have gotten no further..

I've spent the last 6 hours trawling through sites looking for an answer but to no avail, they keep coming back to the same advice.

Any help/advice will be a godsend at this point!!

Save me OBGabeyongOB, your my only hope!! :)

Hi,

So sorry to hear your troubles with you Xperia X8.

You can alway get you phone back to the original SE Eclair ROM.
You have to stay calm and cool.
Just follow some steps to get your confidence going.

Step 1:
check your equipment
a) make sure your PC Companion is installed properly; re-install to boost your confidence if you have to.
b) check your USB cable; is it working properly; when you use it make sure you plug it into the USB port firmly.
c) when you plug your phone to your PC plug the USB cable to your phone first, then plug the other end to the PC's USB port; this way it eliminates static charge transfer from PC to phone. (phone is not grounded but your PC is grounded).

Step 2:
using software
d) when you are trying to recover your phone using PC Companion, the technique is as follows: launch PC Companion and go to the recovery section - switch off your phone - take out battery for at least 5 seconds - replace battery & back cover - plug USB cable to phone - hold the back button of your phone and then plug your usb cable to your PC's USB port.
e) when you are trying to run flash tools multiple times and it does not work; try to restart your PC and then try again. sometimes the drivers can stop working, be unstable or get corrupted.
f) keep all your files in one place (i.e. flashtool, baseband and generic ROMs etc...) so you do get confused which file to use).

Step 3:
get back to basic
g) Use PC Companion to get back to SE Official Eclair first... before you go to a custom rom.

Step 4:
Check out Graveir's Guide on How to Rescue a Bricked Phone
Download xRecovery-0.1 for Xperia X8
Use racht's baseband and flashtool

good luck!

cheers :)

I've got the 2.01.217 version of PC companion but i cant seem to find a recovery section, it has a support section which just goes into "UPDATE" "SUPPORT ONLINE" and "RECYCLE YOUR PHONE", thats the only options. the only other sections in it are contact setup and Media go.. what am i doing wrong?

Thanks again!

Hi,

switch off your phone.
go to PC Companion - support zone hit update.
connect USB to phone and press & hold the back button of X8.
connect USB to PC (keep holding the back button)
PC Companion will start download official software and install

when PC Companion start downloading Xperia X8 software you can let go of the back button of your phone.

cheers :)

Hello everyone. I have a little problem. I have an Xperia x8 with gingerxperia 2.3.5 on it and when i receive a call it gives me the error "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and gives me the Forced close button. When i press it, the ringtone stops playing and thats it. I've tryed to select an network operator manually, but with no success. What to do? Please help. And thanks for the Gingerbred thing, it's nice :D.

PS: sorry for the bad english!

put on vibrating-only mode, it ist the only solution, for now...
lots of us are waiting for some other soution...

Hi,

I think the solution is to try a different Custom ROM like GingerDX...
There are at least 5 different custom roms on the Gingerbread 2.3 platform.
It is as simple as downloading and flashing using xRecovery.

cheers :)
