Zune HD?

What is Zune HD. I have no idea what it is but I have an ipod touch and people keep telling me to sell it and get zune. Can someone show me an overview of the specs and what it can do and why ZuneHD> Ipod touch? Thanks.

Ok, I love my ZuneHD, its much better than any iPod as a music player. The interface is pure sexiness.

Zune is the best mp3/video player on the market! Official comparison or not, go to Best Buy and compare yourself. Sadly you'll have to work your way around all the huge black silhouettes of those people with iPods, but in its nice little corner, where accessories are slim (why I don't know, must be the evil grip Apple has on Best Buy and every other store) there will be the fantastic Zune HD, shining brightly with its OLED screen! See for yourself why its the best media player out.

I definitely agree that zunescene.com is biased, but that was the fastest comparison I could find. Plus, it has all the meat and potatoes of what people look for in differentiating between the two. I am a huge fan of zune, I have had every generation since they came out.

HAHA this sort of thread again! Hi Lekky and Iowa! when I seen the topic I knew I would find you both in here (lately ive been using my zune a lot more than my Ipod touch, the Zune store update really turned it around for me)

Im just going to say I have both the zune hd and the ipod touch. Both of them are amazing devices. Here is how i see some stuff... If youre a hardcore music lover, I recommend the Zunehd for the sole reason of the zune pass or whatever. for 14.99$ a month plus tax you get access to unlimited music on your zune and computer. Its almost like renting music, but each month you get to keep 10 songs for yours to keep for ever!!! thats pretty much like buying 1 cd a month and getting access to millions of cds... I hope that makes sense....
now if youre looking for something that can do more then just music, go with the ipod touch... Everyone knows how many apps there are for it... I also think its cool that the ipod touch has the built in speaker, but I guess some would argue that as an obnoxious feature. I cant stand when a kid is walking through the mall listening to music on his ipod through the speaker...

So just like everything you would evrr compare... Each have pros and cons.... for me some pros of the ipod are all the apps, the built in speaker (for when youre at home or some where it wont be deemed obnoxious to use), the user friendly itune store and the ease of adding music to your itunes library, massive amounts of skins/cases etc to choose from and the ease of finding the cases. Cons are the size, no zune pass type feature, itune store is kind of boring.. (you would have to see both the zune store and itune store to understand what im saying)
Zune pros: the small size, the zune pass, zune store is getting better all the time . Cons-no speaker, not many accessories to choose from, not many people carry the cases for the zune hd :-(, not many apps.

Now I suggest you make a list of pros and cons for each and then decide from there. Dont just take my word, or someone elses word and think its gospel. Notice how Iowa said : "Yeah after playing with the ZuneHD myself I am definately picking one up."
He did some research like youre doing and then went out and actually played with the device

I hope all this makes sense and please dont feel like Im bashing you! I think what youre doing is a smart thing. I like to go on to forums and get peoples views about an item and then go get the item in my own hands and kind of compare to what i read. Going on forums and asking these types of questions will always give you a heads up on what to look for when youve got the devices in your hands.

good post. since i have a smartphone, laptop, netbook, and several pcs, i have no need for apps on an mp3 player. i want it for its intended purpose. MUSIC! the zunepass sounds great, and zunehd does have some apps for those quarky needs. but if i really need something ill just use my phone, they really did alot of design improvement on zunehd. comparing a classic zune to zunehd isnt even fair, as they are completely different. watch some yout tube vidz on zhd and you will see. since most of us carry smartphones, zunehd would "generally" be a better choice, IMO.

Never owned an iPod (unless you count my iPhone, which I rarely use for music), so it's hard to make a comparison, but I just played with a Zune HD out at Fry's today, and for some reason I thought the screen was bigger than that. Not a big issue for something that will be used primarily as an MP3 player (I LOVE my SanDisk Sansa e240 with it's 1.8" screen), but if you have an iPod Touch, I think you might miss that screen. But the Zune is a great MP3 player, it's just too bad that Microsoft waited too long to get into the MP3 player market, and they just can't take any market share from Apple, the iPod is just too entrenched.

Glad I seen this thread. I was thinking of ditching my old Zune 30GB for an iPod touch one day even though the Zune HD is cheaper. Now that I have my Moment for the apps, I think I might look into the Zune HD when I have the money to spend on one.
