***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I thought it was tomorrow? But regardless, I put no faith in what he or Matias say about release because they work for Google. Google doesn't know what the frak those idiots are doing.

I dont put too much faith in what he says neither. Not because he is a windsock like Pee3 but Verizon dont know their *** from a whole in the ground. So its hard for anyone outside of Verizon to know what is going on. Ill put my faith in what info Steven and LT give us.

BTW:Thnx for getting some news Steven!!:D

So I've been lurking for a few weeks. I don't have any important news, but was wondering if anyone can answer a question. I am traveling on business and would really like to upgrade NOW. I really want the GNEX, but was thinking of trying out the Razr. If I purchase a phone while out of town can I return it to my local store when the gnex comes out? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm waiting for Steven to get to work. He wrote that while driving and now typing correctly. Hopefully it is the 17th. the reason i beleive that because he said he was excited. he wouldn't be excited if it was mid December?

I'd like to think that too... or he might just be being the great guy he is and be excited to have ANY news for us. Here's to hoping...

He's probably excited because he now has confirmation from the source and a vzw rep that it will be released by mid-December. I mean, it's not a firm date, but at least it's a corroborated end point in sight.

Welcome to the insane asylum!

I don't know if you can return like that - I don't see why you wouldn't be able to but I would make sure first.

So this is a Verizon/LTE issue? If the GSM version releases in the next few days, it will really look bad for Verizon and/or the LTE hardware. I'm close to just getting a Rezound, it will probably get cm9/ICS before we get the SGN at this point anyway.

I'm really close to pulling the trigger for the Rezound also... but you realize were are doing EXACTLY what VZW wants us to do. Damned if you do and damned if you don't!!!

You know, there's still a chance it could come at the end of November. There's still "a couple of weeks" left in the month. Hopefully we'll get it on the week of November 28th. The "certainly by mid-December" it could be anywhere from next week till 12/15. If Friday the 18th or Monday the 21st passes without any announcement, well then....I will also join the chorus of people singing "I hate you, Verizon".

Maybe the web only on 11/21 will work out like the link indicated earlier??? Maybe instore later?? Who the hell knows!!!??? I think it would be silly to miss out on black friday in store from a VZW perspective.

Silly is an understatement. VZW doesn't just lose those customers for one purchase. They lose them for 24+ months or continues large monthly service payments.

Probably...luckily (*knock on wood*), my Dinc is trucking along with cm7 without any issues. So I'll probably end up waiting, but the thought of waiting yet another month is irritating me.

Why do we trust Steven's source. Wasn't it 2 days ago that they "confirmed" the 17th? I feel like they are just as in the know as any of us. Maybe they are basing their knowledge off of P3. Its the same information....

I trust no one, but it's not looking good for a Thursday release. Verizon should at least prepare us by Tuesday for a Thursday release for such a big phone...maybe....i dont know...im going to cry

Wow. I think everyone needs to take a step back, count to 10, take a smoke break or whatever you do to cool off.

With the way most of you are talking, I actually feel bad for Verizon. They are in a no win situation with everyone. If the Nexus has a radio or software issue and they release it everyone would be angry that they didn't fix the problems before release (happens every time there is a problem). If there is a supply problem then everyone would be angry that "that other guy" got one and they didn't which would make them blame Verizon for a lack of inventory. If they hold off the release to solve a problem then they are blamed for trying to sell other phones. They can't win.

Verizon isn't interested in selling phones. They are interested in selling service for those phones. They want contracts, two year contracts with data plans. The phone, as long as it works, doesn't matter. I have heard this from just about every Verizon corporate person I have ever had dealings with. As my friend told me before, this isn't something they were forced into. They want the phone and for whatever reason there are delays (not really because no official date was given).

Please try to stay calm and be respectful of your fellow members when posting. Nobody is the enemy here.

I do have a small theory on these "leaks"

Everyone here is already angry with Verizon. They know they've handled the situation poorly. If they get all of us to believe the phone is coming mid-December, we become enraged. Google promised us NOVEMBER!!! The phone is released on Thursday, we all forget how mad at Verizon we are because of the surprise. Verizon is now sitting on a golden throne in our minds for not waiting until December, when the entire time they planned to release the 17th. Boom

this is the superman theory. hype builds up, delays are announced, and here they come to sweep in the goodness and save the day. really interesting to be a part of companies that use this strategy. sucks when we're at the mercy of it. it may work in other markets/industries... but i sure hope they know not to toy with the minds of consumers.

If this thing is released in mid-December, I'm definitely getting the HTC device this week, with the full intention of returning it as soon as the SGN comes out.

I will also force it to watch terrible, terrible things, and I will return it full of pictures of really bad, shocking stuff that will make the refurbish person throw up.

Granted, I'm not in the same situation as you (with a dying phone), but here is why I will not give in and pick up either the Rezound or Razr:

What if Verizon, in its infinite wisdom, delays the phone even further...beyond the 1/9/12 deadline for returning? Then what? I'm stuck with a phone I don't want for 2 years. As irritated as I am with this whole cluster-you-know-what, I'm still gonna tough it out. If I were in your shoes, I'd be calling my sister to send me one of her hand-me-downs so I would have it on hand to last me until whenever this phone finally comes out.

When i think of upgrading my phone the first thing that comes to mind is that I am going to be annoyed with a lack of info on any phones coming soon, and the next thing is the "waiting" Its just a ton of waiting with no details at all. I think verizon I think waiting and annoyance then 2nd i think they have the best network. it used to be the other way around.....people can only take that rain of thought for so long before they say screw it i would rather go somewhere else.

I am going to finish what I am doing at work and go to lunch, Taco Tuesday, have a couple of cancer sticks and hopefully when I get back Steven would have posted his info up. No rash reactions till I hear all the info

They won't care. They will take those returned phones, shiny them up nice and pretty and send them to customers with warranty issues. Truly defective phones will end up going back to the mfg for credit or refurbing.

Verizon could avoid a lot of returned Razr's and Rezound's just by giving a tentative date. I don't feel a bit sorry for the loss they take on the returns.

EDIT: All of this posting today is messing up my plan to announce my GNex on my 1k post! Once I hit 999, I will just thank everyone as a reply!
