More great news for Eris owners: No Flash 10.1

This doesn't really mean we won't get it. It means that the phones won't support the version coming from Adobe. Of course the Eris doesn't support Swype either, the last time I looked anyway, and there are many people using it right now.

At the bottom they also mention that the Eris and Devour have flash lite which HTC actually added to the Eris. So there is nothing that says they won't work out their own version of full flash too.

Really though, until it Flash is out for Android we don't know who will get it or even how much of it.

The eris has HTC flash player already.

No, we have flash lite. They are talking about full flash 10.1 and they are two different things.

Hmmm...I know the stock Browser has Flash Lite. However, my Dolphin browser does not. Anyone know how to correct that?

Oh well, no Flash for the Eris. I still have what I paid for. :)

Not sure you can change it for Dolphin.

This announcement said that Flash 10.1 could not run on ARM11 processor class Android phones. Guess what processor class runs the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G?

When Apple said that Flash was a performance and battery sapping waste of time on a mobile phone, I think that they were right. When Steve Jobs allegedly called them lazy programmers, I think that he was (allegedly) right. I don't want it on my phone (and, honestly, it runs like crap on my Macs) - I'd rather that the sites that depend on Flash do what YouTube did and build a site that doesn't require Flash to run.

Apple is correct. Flash will kill your battery and on my Mac Mini, the CPU usage is around 90%-100% while watching Youtube. I am very excited for HTML5.
