How to Flash Roms without using a PC
for Beginner or Experianced alike

I decided to do this little write up for folks who may be as lazy as I am. I basicly used my computer to root my phone and from then on allway's done flashing from the phone. One reason was, I begain flashing with my first Android, The Eris (The little engine that could). The Eris was bad for having issue's with the usb cord's. So it just came to me, why can't I just do everything from the phone and bypass the headaches. I have two Eris's that I used this method with before getting an Incredible which I used the same method and I believe can used with any htc device before we now have crappy locked bootloaders. My good friend Scotty 85 could verify that.
1. First off I use O/I File Manager (use what you like).
2. For my custom recovery I use Amon_ra. Always have. I have no experiance with Rom Manager/CWM.
3. Using the phone's browser download the rom of choice also Gapps if that perticular rom does not include it. The dev will tell you if you have to flash it separately.
4. After the download/s are complete, go to the folder called "Download" and depending on the browser you use it may be different (example: if you use Miren browser it would be "miren/download"), in there will be your rom and anything else needed. (mnt/sd card/download) (do not unzip the download)
5. Long press on the rom and select move. In the top row it has - mnt/sd/download. Select sd. Select "Move here". Your rom is now in the "Root" of your sd card.
6. Repeat step 5 if your rom requires flashing Gapps separately.
7. Using the back key, get back to the root of the sd card. (mnt/sd)
8. You can now look to see if your rom and gapps (if needed) is there.
9. Make sure you compare the MD5 checksum the dev provided with what you downloaded. If it's not exactly the same, something went wrong with the download and will not flash correctly and you'll be posting looking for help. A good app to use for this is "Android file Verifier" by my other good friend Scary Alien (http://market.android.com/details?id=sa.afv).
10. Power down your phone.
11. Power back on into Recovery. Press and hold volume up then power button until you see the skating droids. Release. You will now be in Recovery. All device's may not get into Recovery the same way. Use the method for your device.
12. In Recovery, select "Backup/Restore". If upgrading select "Backup". It will prompt you to select again to confirm. It will then begin the backup. (Again each device may use different buttons to achieve this)
13. When backup is complete return to main screen.
14. Select "Wipe". Your choice here will be determined on weather your changing to a different rom or just updating your current rom.
A. If your changing to a different rom select "Wipe data/factory reset". That option will completely wipe your phone like new and you will need to set everything back up again. There is an app called "Titanium Backup". It is best to buy the Key version as it has more options.
B. If your just updating the current rom you can just flash over the exsisting one by selecting "Wipe dalvik-cache" and "Wipe /cache" (with some versions and/or device's) unless the dev requires a fresh install which will require step A. The update will "Flash over" your current one and everything you have setup will remain not requiring you to set everything back up.
15. Return to the main screen.
16. Select "Flash zip from sdcard". Scroll down to where the zip is your wanting to install and select it. After it finishes and before before going back to main screen, select gapps (if required) and let it install.
17. Return to main screen and select "Reboot system now". Remember that it can take several minutes for the new rom to boot back up. Don't panic.
18. When the reboot complete's..............Wahla.
** This method should also work with newer device's with locked bootloader's providing the dev included the kernel in the rom**
