Temporary Silent Mode?

I'm wondering if there's any sort of temporary mute app.

I'm oftentimes in meetings or on a phone call on speaker phone in my office, and my cell phone starts making all sorts of notification noises, so I'll turn the sound off. Problem is, I forget to turn the sound back on.

I'd love an app that lets me tell it to go into silent mode, but come out in, say, 15 minutes.

Does it exist?

I use two things:
- Off the Hook silences the phone when it's screen-side-down, turns off the vibrator when it's screen-side-up on a desk, and turns it on when it's hand-held. Has a slight tendency to not stay active (must be restarted), but works wonderfully.
- Shush! is triggered when you turn the volume (with the volume buttons) all the way down; it pops up a dialog asking for how long you want to keep it muted, and then restores the previous volume setting. Brilliant, and works flawlessly.

Both these are free. The good thing about these are that you don't need to do something extra to activate them, as you would with widgets.

When searching for those links, I came across a whole range of others (which I haven't tried): FlipSilent is more or less the same as Off the Hook (but may be better at staying resident). Ditto QuietPhone, but it's full of spelling errors.

What I didn't like about shush is the fact that its tied to the volume control button. It was useless for me when listening to music, since the vol control switches to media automatically if the phone is playing audio.

Just my opinion. Best thing is to try them all and see what works best for you.

I was just turned on to really powerful profile app. called "setting profiles". Doing what you want is one of its simpler ablities. You'd create a "silent" profile and install the widget on your homescreen. Hit the widget to turn the profile on or off OR set a countdown timer... 15, 30, 60, 120min. or custom. The trial version will do the job for you.
