Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note LTE Phone and am trying to put custom ringtones on it as well as other sounds for notifications. I have been having a really hard time trying to add tones to my phone. I connected the usb cable to my pc and tried to move the files over to the phones internal memory and then select on the phone: Applications/Setting/Sounds/Ringtones/Notifications, and for some reason my ringtone is not showing up on the phone at all in the ringtone selection list or the notification selection list, is all I get is the basic pre-installed garbage tones that came on the phone.

So I tried to move my ringtone to my 32GB Micro SDHC Card and then see if the file would show up in my phones ringtone selection, but that did not work. Is all I can seem to do is select the file on my phone and then play it. For some reason it will not give me the option to set it as my ringtone or as a notification tone.

I even created a folder on my phone called "Custom Ringtones" and copied the files I wanted to use to that folder. Then I hooked my phone up to my computer and attempted to access that folder but the folder was nowhere to be found, it was like it was invisible or something. I also downloaded two apps for my phone, one called Ringdroid and the other Ringtone Maker to my phone and neither one works, both are garbage. They both stated, "No music files or SD card not present" which is not so as I have a SD card in my phone.

I do not understand why it is so difficult to add a custom ringtone/notification to this phone. I am frustrated with this phone and am about ready to throw it at the wall. If anyone can help me out then I would be more then appreciated.

I made my ringtones by clipping them down in itunes. I have them in a folder on my sd card. The way I set a certain contact ringtone on my phone is:
-go to contacts and select name
-scroll down to "Ringtone" and touch the arrow.
-text box comes up, "select sound from my files"
-scroll down to "external_sd"
-Select "Audio"
-Select "Tones". Your ringtones should be in this folder.
There are probably WAY easier ways to do this, but this is my method

Ok, so I hooked my phone up to my computer, clicked on SGH - I717/Phone/usbStorage and then created a folder called Media, then inside that folder created a folder called Audio, then inside that folder created another folder called Ringtones and added my ringtone. I disconnected and then went to my settings and clicked on ringtones and tried to find the file I just added and it did not show up at all. So I am not sure what to do.

The Media folder is in the wrong directory. It should be in the root phone directory.

Simply move the Media directory up one tree into the root phone directory and you should be good.
I do not understand what the "Root Directory" is?

The only folders I have on my phone are the ones show in this screen capture I took.

Okay, in this screenshot, your are in the correct location. Now create the Media folder. Open the Media folder you created and create an Audio folder. Open the Audio folder and create the Alarms, Notifications and Ringtones folders.

You should now be able to drag and drop the mp3 files into the appropriate folders for use.

Ok, it worked this time!! The only other question I have is about the audio file I am using for a ringtone. I was wondering if someone could edit this tone for me, as it has a small pause in it, like it cuts out, you will hear it at the beggining. Could someone please edit this pause out for me, as I have no audio editing software. I ripped the music from this site: 2Advanced v5 - Attractor

Here is a link to the audio file I ripped: FileSwap.com : 2Advanced Theme.wma download free

*You can't hear the ringtone*:
First, try rebooting. If that doesn't work, try this:
1. Go to the messaging app
2. Go to the menu (that is, the button left of the physical button at the bottom)
3. Go to 'Settings'
4. Scroll all the way down to 'Select ringtone'.
5. Choose your ringtone. ...TRY THIS IT WORKED FOR ME AND I JUST GOT MY PHONE TODAY ;)

Ok so I just converted the file to a m4a and put it on my phone but still not show up under ringtones.

hey, i just had the same problem with yours. now, i figured out by myself the answer of our problem. your tone or music should be in mp3 format. not m4a. or mp4 . mp3 only. no need to convert the file. just look for a song that has a format of mp3.

I found my mp3s which automatically transfered from my comp to phone.
I have sussed how to get my ringtone mp3 song.

On your phone got to applications, then my files, scroll down to media and select your song and keep your finger on it, and it will give you a list of options, press move to, then scroll down to "ringtone" or if you want it saved as "message" notifications. And hey presto... go back to your ringtones or notifcations and they should be there :)

PS this is for the Note NG7000.

Hope this help anyone :)
