Help Samsung Galaxy S Plus (GT - I9001) upgrade

Hi Team,

I am using Samsung GALAXY S Plus (GT - I9001) with Android 2.3.4 Ginger bread OS. I am interested to upgrade my OS to the newer one. Please can u guide me what to do for this.

The normal method to upgrade is via Kies software installed on your PC. Firmware upgrades are country/region specific so there may not be an upgrade available for your device yet.

If you like, you can flash your phone manually using Odin and the firmware files downloadable from SamMobile Firmware Page.

Yes, it is possible. Don't know if it's worth it. I tried a custom ICS ROM on the i9000 and didn't like it but that's just me.

Yes, installing this custom ROM will delete all of your previously downloaded applications so it's better to make a note of what you have installed so you can re-download them again. Also, do a backup of all your media files and contact data too.

Kies or Odin.
Kies is very easy .
Odin needs rom files. from samfirmware.com

I am interested to upgrade my OS to the newer one.So when i was visited at samsung gallary their executive told me when u upgrade your device with 2.3.6 your device will be working slowly.but i decided to upgrade android version 2.3.1 to 2.3.6.
So my 1st question is his executive tell me right or wrong.and 2nd is if i upgrade 2.3.6 android version can i repeat back on my version 2.3.1 on factory reset.
Please can u guide me what to do for this.

I don't know why you were told that the update would slow your phone down because it shouldn't. If Samsung knew there was a problem with that update they would either pull it or release a fix.

Anyhow, performing a factory reset won't roll back your Firmware version from 2.3.6 to 2.3.1.

I used Odin version (Odin3-v1.31.exe).

But I'm stuck at the following :

I want update latest android version.
