Help Formatting phone

Hey guys, I'v been having a bit of trouble with my EFS file recently and I can't make or receive any phone calls or texts and I want to completely reformat my phone so I can get rid of everything including my kernel and ICS update, how would I go abut doing this? Thanks

It certainly seems to be an, "efs", file problem as these are the classic symptoms. See, here:_

Are you rooted, as it is very unusual to see this in an un-rooted phone unless the user has tampered with the, "efs", file?

Factory Resettting and Formatting your phone will not change the Operating System, ICS, or the kernel.

The only way to do that is to flash another firmware to your phone using ODIN but this will not solve your, "efs", file problem I'm afraid. See previous link.

The only thing you can do is take it to a Samsung Service Point for repair.

If you are rooted and have flashed any of a number of custom kernels, such as Siyah, Dorimanx, PhilZ, these will automatically back-up your, "efs", file, alternatively, and as a last ditch measure, you can try, "GSII_Repair", from the Play Store.

Ok so I've tried the GSII repair when I clicked on repair I got a message saying I dont have .nv _data.bak and md5 files, am I missing my EFS file?

Yes. You will need to take it to a Samsung Service Point I'm afraid.
