I had issues with my phone so as always T-Mobile suggested a factory reset (which did not fix the issue) I lost all photos, videos, etc. I was able to recover most photos and videos but the ones I had to put into separate gallery folders did not recover and I can not figure out how to recover. I have tried a few different recovery programs but they only seem to recover what was in the standard gallery folder and not the sub-folders. I have lost alot of pictures of my 2 oldest children and my 9 month old twins. Can someone please help before I have to return my old device. (they sent a warranty replacement and I have to send my original back).

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums acortes :ciao:

The only thing I can suggest is try Recuva. I've seen people have great success with it. I don't know how well it works after doing a factory reset but its worth a shot.

I read there is a recover possibility for photos after a factory reset. I was wondering how. I have a samsung galaxy S2 it doesnt work anymore, last rescue is factory reset. (can not connect to make backups) So how can I recover photos and video's?
Or will the galary be untouched? It's all on the internal memory of the phone, it does not have a SD card unfortunately. could someone give me some instructions? Or can I just use that recuva for the whole problem?
Thank you!!

Hi PM80 and welcome to AF. :wavey:

What kind of problem do you have with your phone? Does it turn on at all?

A factory reset won't delete things on internal storage like pictures. I think that Recuva is more for things that have been deleted. You can also check this thread, A Backup Routine for us all. Download the windows or linux script near the bottom of the page. If you can't connect your phone to your computer though, that won't work.

Hi thanks and thank you for the quick respons. The phone turns on but wont go past the homescreen. It all started with a pop up that kept popping up what ever I did, it was in a loop. My bf tried to flash an other ROM, but of course that doesnt work when you do not remove the old one.

How do you know that it wont delete the pictures on your internal memory? Is that by your own experience? Cause most people say it does delete EVERYTHING including the self made pictures :(
But I understand in the case it does delete them....recuva can recover them?

The stupid thing on Samsung galaxy S2 was that I had to select the usb mode, but I could not do a thing on the phone because of the pop ups, so connecting was impossible. Last option and the advice everyone gives me is resetting with factory reset. (are there dirrent kinds of resets? Soft reset does not work)

Thanks :)

Yes, I have factory reset many times. It won't delete your internal storage. I've had a few others on here in your position with pics they wanted. A factory reset didn't delete their pics either. I don't know if it deletes everything on some phones, but this one it doesn't. :)

Power off your phone again. Hold both volume buttons and the power button at the same time. When the phone vibrates, let go of the power button but keep holding both volume buttons. In a few seconds you should be in the recovery menu. Use volume buttons to move up/down and power button to select. *if power button doesn't work, use your home button*. Go to wipe data/factory reset and select it. Next, select format cache partition. Now select reboot.

So are you still on the rom your boyfriend loaded or the stock rom the phone came with? If you need to go back to the stock rom you can follow this guide. I don't think that deletes internal storage either, but I can't remember for sure.

Thank u both for the advice. I am gonna try...hope it goes back to the original rom...you would think so with a factory reset!

Just make sure you don't select 'format internal storage'. Also, if you are on the stock rom now, that's what it will be after a reset. If you're on a custom rom, a factory reset won't change you back to the stock rom.

If you're on a custom rom the only way to get back to the stock rom is to use odin unless there was a backup made before installing the stock rom.

If you're on a custom rom, a factory reset can still help and it won't delete the internal storage. If you're getting popups saying something like com.process.google has stopped working, then you definitely need to try a factory reset.

For my understanding stock is what came w the phone. Costum is one you can flash on the phone. He took the lightning rom...not working cause it was not propperly installed. No back ups on computer..does it ask for a back up on the phone itself before flashing? Then he might have said yes.....gosh getting less and less possitive about this now :(

Just thought I'd add to this thread, as it seemed to have gotten way off course in the beginning. My SUB galleries were also deleted on a factory reset which were on the EXTERNAL SD CARD. So trying to figure out how to get that back. If someone tells you that the factory reset doesn't touch the SD card, this is NOT TRUE.

Unless there is some thought that this was not the case and a fluke happened?
