so i my phone wont charge the battery port is messed up?

ok just noticed it charges when powered down so i dont think its the port?? What could this be ? A rom I am ? I on JB Sourcery 5.3 ?

I have the same issue with mine. I purchased the part, but have been to lazy to replace it. I got a standalone battery charger for three bucks delivered on bay and I already had a second battery. So every AM, I just swap the batteries. This way I don't have to shut down my phone at night when I charge. My issue started when I dropped my phone a short distance.

I used to have this problem. Here's how I resolved the issue without changing any parts........
You need a very small sharp instrument. With the phone screen facing the ceiling push the point of the instrument underneath the USB charging port and lift upwards slightly.

I found that the prong wasn't straight and this resolved the issue. Before this my phone would say it was charging when it wasn't and would only charge when off. For some reason this worked and I've never had a problem since.

Give it a go.

YOU, SIR, yes you, are the man!

Two seconds and my issue is fixed. I am glad I am a procrastinator. I probably would have humped up my phone replacing the cable and port.

Hey, anybody want to buy a usb port and tool set? ;)

I had the same issue with the port not working (but it was totally bad), I couldn't charge while on or off or transfer any data. I had to use Airdroid to get my files off and then sent it back... I wish I had thought of buying a replacement port, but that thing was so thrashed anyway it was worth the insurance claim.

Then I had the replacement for 3 days, dropped a short distance and now I have a spider-web screen. FML.
