Help Sense 5/6 discussion / setup (Blink feed, etc.)

Is there anyway I can add my choice of news (BBC) to my blink?

As far as I can see, no. Just the Guardian and The Independent, both of which are very informative and 'professional'.

Why not d/l the BBC News app, like I did. It's not exactly what you want, however, it should suffice. You even have the option of breaking news alerts up where the battery icon is, which you can disable in options :)

It depends on the country/region selected as Local Content in BlinkFeed settings, and which of the resulting options are selected in the tick boxes.

United Kingdom gives me Guardian, The Independent, Financial Times and Reuters.

United States gives me Huffington Post, AP, and Reuters.

Global English adds Euronews.

Other categories are country/region specific too.
:)

Hi,

Per HTC support:

https://support.htc.com/en-us/010-H...change_the_refresh_schedule_in_HTC_Blinkfeed?

QUESTION:
Can I change the refresh schedule in HTC Blinkfeed?

ANSWER:
The phone automatically refreshes every 2 hours on mobile data network or hourly on Wi-Fi. While the phone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi, it refreshes every 15 minutes.

You can refresh HTC BlinkFeed anytime by pulling down the top of the screen. Pull down to refresh is now part of the many gestures supported on HTC Sense 5, such as the Mail app.

I'm coming from the Bionic using Timeriffic.

Hoping to get the HTC One when it finally makes it to Verizon this Thursday.

This might be more a general Android question than a HTC One, unless Sense has this, but, is there Timeriffic kind of functionality build into Sense, or HTC One, or will still have to use Timeriffic to have the phone automatically turn on and off phone functioins, such as wifi, vibrate, volume, adjust screen brightness, etc, according to a preset schedule??

I'd like to select which contact groups display on the phone, I don't want all of them to. I was able to on my old android device, but on this phone all I seem to be able to do is "delete" a group? and there are default groups that it won't let me delete (even though I don't want them....).

Am I missing something, or is the contacts manager on this phone really this poorly designed?

I usually don't bother w/this myself,as I have a frequent "FAVORITES" set-up.

However you can edit which contacts are displayed, whether by group/favorites/accounts attached to your phone,etc...

You can fine tune in a number of ways, but,to do so by groups only, for this particular discussion, try this:

Go to CONTACTS > GROUPS (scroll sideways left or right to find GROUPS).

Select the group that you want to edit/delete by long-pressing on the desired group. You should now have the option to edit or remove all contacts from the group.

A quick tap on the GROUP will bring up all members/items in the GROUP.
Long press on the contact you wish to edit/delete.

That's exactly what I don't want to do. I have all my contacts managed properly through the gmail web interface.

I figured out what I wanted to be able to do...
when you click on "Phonebook" in the upper left, the drop down shows all your accounts that are synced, by clicking the menu button to their side you can select their options, for a google account it lets you there select which groups you want to display.

Is there a Mail widget available for the HTC One or can I find one to sideload that will include emails from multiple email accounts? I had this on my prior HTC phone (DNA) but do not find it in the list of widgets on the One.

A couple of quick tips I picked up from the HTC Support site:
  • Double tap on the Home key provides a list of recent apps
  • You add a menu function with a long press of Home key through Settings-Display, gestures & buttons
Just received my Verizon version HTC One yesterday and liking it so far.

Thanks, but that is the problem. I can find that tab but only have the filtering options: Facebook, LinkedIn, instagram, Flickr. For some reason, Twitter is not included.

Odd, mine showed it even before I had logged into my account via the Twitter app. I assume the app is installed and you've logged in? The only thing I can think is that it's not installed?

It is odd. I don't have Twitter "proper" itself but use Tweetcaster.

Also odd is the fact that when I go to Accounts & Sync (not for blinkfeed - for the entire phone) to "add accounts" I don't get an option for Twitter. I suspect that's related but have no idea what's causing it.

Install Twitters official app, see what happens.
