Incredible Tips and Tricks

You have to close the other browser windows. It's under the menu section while in the browser.

I'm sorry for sounding so dumb. I did that...and then each time I click on the link, it says "processing download request" but it doesn't download. I used Astro and tried to find it. It's not anywhere. The status bar at the top doesn't show a download. I'm about to just give up--maybe I should. Anything else I should try?

and thank you.

ETA: I cleared all cookies, history, cache, etc and tried again. It downloaded this time. About to install. Thanks!

Open your messaging app and start a new message. Then push and hold on the text field. A box will pop up and select Input method and choose Swype.

Here is a dumb question. The swype package I installed does not match the screen size of the device. Please contact swype about this issue. Screen size 800x400.

Did I download the wrong swype file?

OK, my first couple of dumb questions :)

1. Any way to rearrange the order of the screens? For example, to the right of the home screen is the "Favorites" screen, then the "Twitter" screen. Let's say I wanted to reverse them.

2. This was really aggravating... I use some complex character strings in passwords (not just letters and numbers as I maintain some fairly sensitive information) and I can not find the "greater than" (>) or "less than" (<) characters on the keyboard. Nonexistent? Hard to believe, but I can't find them.

Touch it until it gets a box around it, then drag it to where you want it.

MoPhoMan, can you continue to do what you are doing with the first post like what is listed below. I am just saying that I am new to android (and probably many others as well) and will be having alot of questions in the near future. I love this thread so far, keep it up.

Question?
Answer?

My two open questions that I need help with:

1. press and hold on anything on the screen. Once the green box shows around the box, you can drag it over to any of the other screens. If there is something there and it doesn't fit, it will float until you find a spot for it. Or you can remove it by dragging it down into 'remove'.
Yeah, I figured that out right after I posted this.
2. not sure...change your passwords :)
LOL... that's what I ended up doing, changing the ">" to a "?". Haven't had a chance to look for the other keyboards mentioned above yet.

Okay...have been messing around with the "favorites" dedicated screen. Initially set it up with a few contacts, and have no idea how to modify my preference of how to contact them when I click on their image (text, phone, etc). The only thing I could figure out is to go into their contact profile and remove the "favorites" check mark from their name. Once I do that, the contact disappears completely from my list of contacts. First of all, has anyone run into this as well, and 2nd, is there a fix or something I am doing wrong? TIA

So up under each favorite's picture (or icon) is a small box that has their name in it. If you have already established a default contact type (small phone, envelope, message or contact card should appear in the bottom right hand corner of the icon) and want to change it, click on that small name button and it brings up the list of all possible contact methods. You can pick another contact mehod just for that one instance, but the contact type you set up originally will remain. Once in that same list screen you can click Menu>More>Set Widget Action and choose the new contact type. It even has an option to view the contact which is what I like so that I can pick from the list every time without accidentally calling them if I don't hit the little button just right.

Hope this helps!:)

This may be a dumb question but I just picked up my phone and it seems that the backlit buttons below the screen don't light up for me. I've only seen them light up once and that was when I turned on the phone, since then nothing. I checked the settings/setup and had no luck. Is there a reason for this?

Any help appreciated.

It may be the ambient light sensor. Try covering just the top of the phone by the earpiece and see if they light up.

You will have to install the .apk. Here's step by step instructions:

1. Download the .apk file.
2. Copy .apk file to microSD card (either via mounting the phone or through a memory card reader.
3. On your phone, allow installing unknown sources: Menu -> Settings -> Applications. Check Unknown sources.
5. Open Astro, browse to your microSD card.
6. Select the Swype .apk file and it will go through the install process.
7. Once installed you need to make it your default keyboard:
a. Go to Menu -> Settings -> Language & Keyboard. Check Swype.
b. Open a new text message.
c. Press and hold the text input box. A box will pop up. Select Input Method, then select Swype.

Done :)

You can also download it directly to your phones internal 8G of memory!

1.Download the .apk file via your Incredible browser
2.Internet->Menu->Downloads
3. Install swype!
