I've been using phone for few weeks now and have a few issues.

1.Notification sound volume: I can't change just notification volume. Volume settings do not even offer it. Quick settings app does not do it to either. Is it even possible?
2.I noticed huge battery drainage and massive phone heating in low signal areas, anyway to prevent it? I know some phones do that, but my previous android was not one of them.
3. When ever I start Pandora, it plays at very low volume, once I get any notification (email, sms etc.) sound fixes and starts playing loud. Any solution?
4.I had Google maps crashed 4 times in one day during navigation, no clue why. It goes not responding pretty often too

I have an unlocked GSM 16gb version, updated to 4.4.3. Everything is stock. Using ART compiling. Thank you for your help.

1), You can use a widget called A-Volume, that will allow you to do that

2) that is a tough one, like you said if signal is bad, then your only option is to monitor signal strength and areas and either turn phone off if you are in those areas for long periods, or put your phone in airplane mode during that time.

3) this I am not sure about, but maybe Pandora has a settings in it that has the volume turned down, using the above widget might tell you this once installed.

4) Maps is one of those finicky apps, depends on the device, you can uninstall the update, then re install it, and then try rebooting your device, also make sure not too many apps are running in the back ground when using maps, as maps uses lots of resources and will drain your batter, hit the recent app soft key button, and swipe away the background running apps. see if that helps

I've noticed problems 2 and 3 with my phone too. My work place seems very anti Verizon, 1 bar of 3G, so I sometimes disable data if it's getting hot or the battery is draining, that fixes that.

And as for Pandora, sometimes it's fine, but when I get a notification, it lowers the volume until I get another notification. No fix that I've found :(

Settings / sounds / volume. There is a volume slider for notification volume there, which is different from ringer volume.

Maybe you should try switching back to Dalvik to see if it's the ART runtime that is causing that Maps issue?

I too work in a low signal area....we actually have lead-lined walls at my workstation. I use an app called Long Battery Life that cuts off "data" as long as the screen is off. When you turn the screen on, the data comes back on. You can still get calls and texts...just your data push and refresh cycles for the background apps are halted while the screen is off. I can usually run thru an 10 hour work day with only about 15 percent battery drain with moderate usage...
