Root Has anyone with a rooted phone successfully uninstalled a Sprint app?

I rooted the phone, and I know that for sure. But when I go to Manage Applications and click on something like the NASCAR app, there is still no uninstall button.

How do I uninstall?

you wont be able to uninstall like that...its unfortunate that its not that easy.


there is a process that will need to be done via recovery mode.

ill see if i can find some links for you....i actually just did this last night and got rid of a lot of sprint apps

i would start here:

bloatware removal - PPCGeeks


Boot into recovery mode and then copy and paste this into the command prompt. To root and to learn how to go into recovery mode go here. It's a very easy guide on how to do this. Make sure to thank the author of the thread.

cd /system/app
rm amazonmp3.apk
rm Sprint_App_Updater.apk
rm Sprint_NASCAR.apk
rm Sprint_Navigation.apk
rm Sprint_NFL.apk
rm Sprint_Promotion.apk
rm Sprint_Qik.apk
rm Sprint_TV.apk
rm SprintTVWidget.apk

This will remove the Sprint apps that most of you don't want.

Yikes, thanks. I hate recovery mode because I can't install the drivers that let the computer recognize the phone as a disk drive. There is some HTC driver that automatically overrides it each time. And I don't know enough to be able to correct it. That means that while in recover mode I can only talk with the SD card, not the computer. Big pain in the butt.

Yea I rooted the unrevoked method. I'm waiting until they come out with a full root so that I can uninstall some of these crappy apps.

If you do remove the Sprint apps, can you restore them if you change your mind (if you do a phone restore by holding down the volume button while turning the phone on)?
