Have I broken my battery?

I bought a replacement HTC battery as I read somewhere that there is a chance these are better quality than the one in the box.

I also read somewhere that every now and again you should lett it run dead. I did this once last night.

When I charged it over night, it said 100% as usual. I unplugged it and left the house. Checked again it was 91%.

I plugged it in at work, got to 100% and disconnected it. It was still 100% and I used it until 88%

Plugged it in again, it was 100%. Disconnected it and immediately it said 90%.

These %'s are true even after a battery pull and I believe them to be accurate.

Have I broken my battery? Is this due to the fact that the phone stops & starts charging to maintain charge?

With the last charge I could see usage being the problem as I did use it a fair bit once it reached 100% before unplugging it, but the overnight one doesn't make sense.

Any ideas anyone please?

My battery (original one) did some funny stuff jumping around between 90-100% during charging in the first few weeks. It's settled down now. It did it once last week I think but that was it.

I'd give it a while and see what happens. It's probably not broke.

Cheers Jim. Hopefully thats it. It worked normally for a few days (since Friday) but after the discharge its doing this. Charged it again. It's definitely reaching 100%. As soon as it gets there and I take it off, it remains there.

If I leave it on "charge" it then drains. I wonder how low a % it ccould drain to when plugged in. If it persists that would be very inconvenient. back to the original battery.

Hmm this is odd. So I have been getting annoyed with the battery. It almost always is around 90% when I unplug it now.

Yesterday, it was charged to 100%, unplug it it was 92%. Plug it back in and it was 100%. I couldn't charge it. It would just pretend it was 100% when it wasn't. It must have been discharging.

Got home, charged to 100%. Lost 1% pretty much every half an hour whilst doing nothing. This has been normal for this battery.

I decided to put the original battery in, charged to 100%. An hour and a half (granted, sat idle) it hasn't gone down at all. Still 100%. Turned it off and back on to confirm.... now 99%.

Hopefully, the old battery combined with my current settings will work as desired, no pun intended.
