Help Help! Virgin Mobile HTC EVO dead?

My phone was working perfectly fine yesterday morning, but then I had it powered down pretty much all day and overnight last night. Went to plug it in, turn it on, and go to my workout program to log in this morning's time, and it wouldn't boot up. I DID get the red battery charge light at the time.

In trying to turn it back on, somehow I ended up on some funky screen with three little androids at the bottom, and found myself with multiple choice options to either reboot, or factory reset, and one or two other choices. Well, at the time, I didn't want to factory reset it, just reboot it so it would start, so selected reboot.

Screen went completely black, red charge light went out, and it's been dead ever since. the Vol down/Power button factory reset does absolutely nothing. I've seen in one thread where the person's phone was doing the same thing mine was and he installed some sort of "Runner" file on his SD card and ran that, and the person helping him said if he'd only just tried the Factory Reset only without running that file, he might have been better able to talk him through a possible fix. So I thought I'd stop at the factory reset that didn't work and see if anyone has any suggestion as to what to do next.

Can anyone help? Phone has a bunch of apps and stuff on it, but it's not been rooted or anything. And I have tried pulling out the battery, leaving it out for a bit, then putting it back in and THEN trying to hard reset it, still no luck, dead as doornail.

Thanks!
