I have an Android LG model LGL15G android ver4.4.2 ($10 Walmart Tracfone). I can transfer files (like jpeg and mp3) from my PC to the smartphone via USB cable. However I can't transfer a mobi ebook file. I get an error message on the PC that the file is unsupported. (See above picture.) I have Cool Reader (mobi ebook reader) installed on the smartphone, so I don't know why I get the error message. The only way to put the ebook file on the smartphone is to download it from the cloud:

Then I can read the book on the smartphone.
My question is, why can't I transfer the mobi file by USB cable?

Yes, turns out the problem to transfer files (other than mp3 and jpeg) is the fault of Windows Xp Windows Media Player. On my computer, no files can be transferred to the smartphone that Windows Media Player does not support. Possible solutions are to get a newer version of Windows Media Player ( I have ver 10, I could get ver 11), or just rename the file I want to transfer to be a mp3 and then I can transfer the file. For example, I could rename c.mobi to be cmobi.mp3.
Then I can transfer the file by USB cable to the smartphone. After transferring and unplugging the USB cable, then I can rename the file (using file rename on the smartphone) back to c.mobi.
Problem solved.
