Does anyone know of an app to change vital phone settings based on your location?

So, if i'm at home, my WiFi will turn on, same for my friends. Or i get to work and it turns to silent?

The best app I have found for this is Tasker. It allows you to change almost any setting based on a huge number of parameters (location, date, time, near wifi, app started, power connected, incoming mail, call, etc, etc, etc).
It is a little bit complicated to start off with, but is probably the most powerful app I have ever used and can take the place of any number of other apps, limited only by your imagination.
It can also be used to create widgets, change your wallpaper and icons, start apps, etc, etc.

Tasker +1. Definitely a learning curve but streets ahead of all of the similar more popular apps

Thanks guys. I'll try tasker, then maybe locale. Locale is where i got.my idea, but the comments on the market place said it had recently stopped working!

Ah, shame. There's no free or trial version.

It really is excellent though. You can always get a refund within 24 hours from the Market.

As others have said, Tasker can replace other paid apps with its functionality. (Eg you can make it read out your incoming SMSs based on whatever conditions (like only when headset or bluetooth connected) so it can replace Speech Alert app).

Have only just started to use it and it is amazingly powerful. It can also use Locale plugins to get even more functionality.

Not quite but if you go to his web site you can have a 14 trial which should be long enough to assess it and it is cheaper than on the android market as well

I liked the beta of Locale but I thought $10 was a bit steep so defected to Tasker beta.
I happily paid the $5 for Tasker though when it came out of Beta

Tasker v1.0 Application for Android | Tools

Is that the correct app? I'm always a little dubious of downloading ones with no ratings or comments, but if it's as powerful as people say it is it may be one of the few paid apps I plan to indulge in.

LocationBot is only 0.99 British pounds and can set WiFi, volume, auto-sync, vibrate etc according to your location. The free version LocationBotLite allows 2 locations to be configured e.g. HOME and WORK. Location is taken from GPS (if available), or network (fallback when GPS unavailable).

It's an ongoing project (at time of writing) so I'd be grateful for any feedback.
