After going through 4 new ones (2 for me and the wife each), I decided to call it quits. After 6 months with Nexus, I've found the Razr Maxx to be a great device for my needs.
I miss ICS, the Nexus screen and feel and how smooth the device ran. It's the best running device I've ever had. But, I think it really fell short with battery life, camera, and volume. These are imperfections that can be overlooked/fixed by most, but I couldn't stay around when the phones kept suffering from consistent signal problems. I don't care how amazing a device looks or feels...if I can't depend on it to make phone calls and get data, it's not worth it.
I really hate how the whole Verizon Galaxy Nexus thing went down. I love vanilla Android. It seems that Samsung skimped in too many ways with it being a flagship phone. The way Verizon has delayed the updates basically defeats the purpose of it being a Nexus. And, there appears to be a big quality control problem with all the discrepency between one device to the next. After my experience, its frustrating to see others say they've never experienced any problems.
But, I think most of it comes down to the user, their expectations and tolerance of issues. No phone is perfect and people react differently when problems occur. I think most would agree that the radios are weak and that's still the most important aspect of any phone. I really wanted this phone to need a massive success because it could've led to manufacturers making less skinned Android phones and ICS is such an awesome leap for Android.
