Can I uninstall SoundHound if I already have the paid version?

Hi all. Just got my Eve LTE yesterday and I'm really excited about it. But I noticed it came preinstalled with SoundHound, and I already have the paid version. I installed the paid version, but now the Play store shows that I have both installed, and I can't seem to uninstall the free version (just the updates, but then it will always list them in the updates list, which is annoying).

Is there a way to get rid of it, besides rooting? Or do I just have to deal with updating it all the time?

uninstall the paid version. you can not remove the installed version unless you root. treat this as any other program thats in ROM that you would like to remove (eg. bloatware)

Ok, I guess I'm stuck with it, but why would I uninstall what I paid for? No ads, at least...

Can you disable the pre-installed one? Sometimes these apps can be disabled via the Application manager, and then you can install the paid version and only see one.

I just don't know if the LTEvo allows that or not.

If the ElTevo is on ICS you can freeze the system app without root. Just go to Settings | Apps | SoundHound and you should see a button that says disable. This funtionality is Native and Android 4.0+

Thanks, didn't know that as all my devices are Nexus's so I really haven't had to freeze any yet.

Thanks! Uninstalling the updates actually reduced the file size to 0, and then disabling it removed it from the My App list altogether. Nice!
