Do you convert movies ? - not running smoothly ?

I have some problems with playing movies on my Incredible S. In the first few days all the movies I did play, was running smoothly. But now they all seems to lag a bit - but sound works just fine.

I have tried to convert them from VOB/AVI to m4v, using handbrake, changing the bitrate, changing the size of the file from between 600mb-150mb, but all of them seems to run with a little lag.

I have tried these players - RockPlayer, DoubleTwist, MoboPlayer and VitalPlayer Pro.

I can't imagine the all these players are not good enough to play these movies, so I guess it must be my phone - or me, when I convert the movies to a single file.

Someone out there who can help here ?

If your videos are in AVI, you probably don't have to convert them.
For VOB files, I would also use Handbrake to convert them.
Please use MP4 container instead of M4V.

Download MeidaInfo, open the converted file, select the text output format and copy the information displayed here. We can see then if the parameters used are correct.

LOL, yes I meant MediaInfo. :)

Yes, the encoding is much complexer in the first video. However, it is also more efficient by utilizing a more modern codec.

OK, regarding the first video, you have made the encoding unnecessarily complex. Here is what I'd suggest to do:

* Choose a standard profile in Handbrake - Set it to "Universal"
* Video - Format settings, CABAC : Yes - Set this to "No".
* Video - Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames - Set this to "2".

Also, you should be using the baseline codec version of h264, not Main@3.0.

This also could be your problem. it looks like this video has, or had, DRM on it at one point.

I am using h264.

yes, but you are using the Main h264 codec. You need to use the Baseline codec. In handbrake, try using the Normal profile instead of the High or Film profile.

DRM...I can't see any where to turn it on/off

You cant just "turn it off". It's copy protection put there by apple to prevent you from viewing it on devices other than itunes/ipod/ipad. You will have to find a way to remove it, you can search on google for some advice.

I have been using the Normal profile all the time, that I have used Handbrake - and I have had problems with those settings.

Are you saying that if I use other settings, than the Regular, on a Android, I will get problems because of Appels copy protection ?

Now I'm trying the Universal profile, Like Usta told me to do. I'll wait for the result of this convertion, to see if it helps.
