I've only had my G1 for less than a week, so I'm constantly screwing with it... so my battery discharges quickly. I can attach it to my PC at work to charge up, but I'd like more out of it.

I'm thinking of getting an extended life battery. I've found one so far at *********

Has anyone else used extra batteries? How about the 1600mAh one from fommy? And new to report about it?

The battery pictured in the link is not for a G1 Is for a HTC TyTN II.. I order a battery from them that was suppose to be for a G1 and was sent a battery for a TyTN II ...

Be careful .... I haven't been able to contact them for a return ...

I ordered one of those USB battery packs that takes normal AA or AAA batteries as a backup for the G1 when I'm traveling. It hasn't come yet but I hope to take it along as an insurance policy. I read on one site that their charger which uses four AA batts can charge a G1 2.5 times. I figure I can take along extra alkaline batteries and never worry about my G1 totally dying that way.

My previous phone was a Motorola Q9c. I had the extened battery for it. Best I can tell you won't find a real exteneded battery that's the same physical size as the one in the phone. I mean it's really a matter of physics and technology. With current technology you can pack only so much power into a unit the size of the G1 battery. The extended battery on the Motorola comes with a replacement battery cover as it's about twice as thick. I would assume that someone will do the same for the G1 eventually resulting in a thicker and heavier phone. However, for me with my Q9c I was more than willing to accept the thicker phone in exchange for longer battery life.
