i've gone from Fresh 1.1/gumbo kernal/setcpu to Fresh 2.0d. At first the Fresh 2.0d was a bit laggy, but after a little bit of tweaking it has been a lot fast. Not as smooth as Fresh 1.1, but overall, not bad. I read somewhere that Damageless 2.07 would be a smoother alternative. I was just wonder what the consensus would be in this forum about which is better. i know there are other 2.0 ROMS out there other than these two, but from my research, these two are the two most talked about. IF there is a better option other than these two feel free to enter them in the battle.

they're all about the same speed, according to benchmark tests done by Flipz. Personally, I don't think any of the 2.1 ROM's are as smooth as Fresh 1.1, and I believe that is partly due to not having an official update to work off and improve upon.

I haven't messed with Fresh 2.0d yet, as I'm fairly happy with the way my phone is working on DC2.07.2, and really don't feel like setting everything back up at the moment lol.

However, I would say the best ROM is the one that works best for you, the one that comes set up the way you like your phone to work. No one can tell you which ROM is better than another (although they will try), because each person has their own perceptions on how they run.

I don't think it's really possible to compare them since DC focuses on optimization and doesn't implement many custom features like Fresh does. So they're completely different. The only thing you can really compare is the speed since neither of them have the same features.

I have used Fresh 2.0c and found it to be a little buggy... I am currently running DamageControl 2.07.2 and have had no issues with it, but some seem to have audio loss and facebook sync issues (for Facebook for HTC sense not the app). The only thing was I had to flash the market fix to get all the apps as this is required becasue the ROM is not signed by any carrier.

I think i'm going to stick with DC 2.07 until some new ROM's start coming out after the official release. I burned thru so many different ROM's last couple weeks I'm surprised I have any data left lol

It really depends on how you feel about what you want. Their about the same speed, although I find Fresh a hair faster. But I personally like that my phone doesn't look stock.

They are roughly the same speed....no real terrible lag on either. However, my personal choice was with Flipz, because his was lighter in size by a considerable amount. Both are VERY themeable and have a slew of different ones out there.

Check the both out....you could run both and test them fairly well in the span of a few hours, then make your choice :)

I had both. Difference for me? Less Force Closes with Damage. I like Damage a little better.

Agreed. My battery is also lasting a bit longer. Fresh definitely has some great features - wifi tether included, bloatware already deleted, etc, but I've found Damage to be rock solid and speedy so far.

I use Fresh 2.0d and have no issues. It runs fast and smooth. My wife has a stock hero and I can not even touch it anymore because it seems so slow. I have never used DC so can't really compare. My thoughts are if one ROM works great for me, there is no reason for me to keep switching around.

Yep, totally agree. The only reason I switched is because the radio somehow got screwed up under Fresh. Every time I'd hit my Home button while I was in any app, the screen would refresh and make the phone unusable for about 5 seconds. Very possibly something I did or installed, but I needed to fix it of course, so I looked at it as an opportunity to explore another ROM.

I just downloaed Fresh 2.0d yesturday and it has some great features, but my two gripes so far is:

    1. Keyboard- I expected the keyboard to be slighly better with this new ROM compared to stock. Lag is still noticeable, especially in the browser

    2. Browser-I like that we finally have a taskbar in the browser now but the pintch zoom is off, not nearly as smooth as stock 1.5, anyone esle experiencing this?

Based on my two minor complaints, am I better of sticking with Fresh or jumping over to DC?

You can flash the stock HTC keyboard back to get rid of the customized one...it should take care of the KB issues.

I dumped the included keyboard for Swype... works great!! I even loaded it on my wifes Moment.. she uses swype instead of the hardware keyboard... and the hardware keyboard was her ONLY reason for getting a moment hahahaha

Where did you get the swype keyboard at? The beta testing is closed now. Anyone know where to get the apk?

Did you set Swype as your default kb? Go into a text input and press and hold...should get a pop-up to change keyboards.

Sorry to go off topic. Back to the topic, I think that Fresh 2.0d was a little faster but as it states, Damage Control is stock and clean but also quick.

download fresh kitchen auto rooter. if you're rooted then you can easily add stock apps back to your device with a few clicks within that software.

Thanks, Mystic. I couldn't figure out how to get swype going. Your post made me feel sheepish, yet happy that I could finally try it. Sooooooo much better than shapewriter!!! And I really like shapewriter.... I can't believe how it's so much smoother and easier to use.
    :D
