Sounds like you are trying to install using the update.zip file?

Do you have the latest (0.99.2b IIRC) SPRecovery file?

    If so, you need to:

    Boot into recovery
    Go to install

Do NOT select "Chose ROM from SD Card".

    Instead select "Allow update.zip installation"

    Then select "Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)."

or if you want to do a Nandroid backup, the procedure is different.

    Try the update.zip first.

Pete's file isn't a raw rom. It's an update file, or a nandroid backup.

In your first post, you refer to a Sholes' ROM. In the second, Pete's ROM. Which is it???

You don't need to install the Sholes' ROM first. Just go over to Pete's thread, download the Bugless Beast or Beauty (take your pick), then follow those instructions.

If you have rooted and installed the recovery console, you can install any rom you would like.

You wouldn't install the sholes rom then the bugless beauty.

If you are in the recovery console, re-boot your phone, and make sure you have the update.zip file downloaded from bugless beauty / beast. Then follow the instructions I provided above.

For further clarification, in the recovery console:

    volume up/down - navigation
    power button - back
    camera button - select/confirm

I'm assuming you want to keep your data, so use the update.zip

First of all, get out of recovery. Like I posted before, use the POWER button to back out of the install menu until you have the option to reboot the phone.

Go download Pete's update.zip, put it on the root of your sd card.

Then get back into recovery, select install, allow update.zip, then install update.zip (deprecated).

After it's finished, back out using POWER again, and reboot.

P.S. you should probably make a nandroid backup first. It's in the main menu of the recovery console. Just select simple nandroid backup.

it's in pete's BuglessBeast topic, scroll all the way at the end of the first post and you should see "wireless tethering app" in red click on berzerker name and it directs you to the topic that has the application
