I bought G1 off ebay and got unlocked code and all and got unlocked but when try and put my sim card LIME(was Cable & wireless) and try to activate get server error?

How can I tell what version is in G1 when cant get past activation?

you probably get server error because you have not connected to the internet first, you get this when trying to sign into your accoutn at the activation screen right? if their is a button like create an account later then select it and then activate it on wi-fi or something first then sign into an account
