The link to the root tool package (DroidX2_Root_2012.exe) on Media Share seems to not be working, any other alternate download spots?

Yeah thats the link. When I open it the mediafire page opens, I can click "download" (once it had me do a captcha) then it shows a green arrow on the lower left with a "your download is starting" message. But then it refreshes, or seems to, and I am back to the page with the green button. I press on the green download button then it shows a green arrow on the lower left with a "your download is starting" message. I got it to download on my phone, and transferred over to PC. I think it had to do with a content blocker/filter

2 mins or less, it needs to boot normally to android operating system
so if it's in bootloader, disconnect usb and reboot phone, once it has finished booting normally, reboot again

yup. First tried the 7z, but then used the exe. Was using as charge only, but gonna try PC mode now.

ok that's after the files flashed in fastboot mode?
phone needs to reboot and boot completely twice, after flashing files
that is very important

Yes, had issue, had to restart the comp, and then that had a issue. dammit. so it had to repair, put me back a bit, so I had to reinstall the moto drivers again. Got the exe running again, and it went all through correctly. I think I did have to toggle the debug though, cuz it was hanging right off the bat. Now its all set. All rooted. Thanks for the help and great post for updated info. So many just show info for 2.3.4 !

Also! I did switch from a usb hub, to a stand alone port. Not sure if that made a difference or not.

hello all
i used the self extracting batch file the other day and it was very easy. just for frame of reference im not extremely knowledgable about the android system aside from being a user. the whole process took approximately 30 min including downloading the file. thanks
