Or is this something that can't be done unless the phone is rooted? One thing that drove my wife nuts when we were checking out the phone is that every time she hit the Home key, that Google search box was right there on the main screen staring at her. I hope this is something that be gotten rid of? Anyone know about this?

put your finger on it. wait till it vibrates. move to the trashcan that the app icon just turned to. drop. gone.

to put it back, long press your wallpaper. when a menu pops up, select new widget. look for google search and poof... it comes back

Hahaha...Nice! That was actually one of my first questions coming over to an Android phone. Didn't realize that every single widget on the screen could be removed. Gotta love the Android OS!

Long press the screen and select widget from the menu that pops up. The clock should be in there someplace.

You can move the google search bar to the left or right screen so it is not on the main screen.
