Help MXQ Plus No Status Bar, No Notification Bar

I have an MXQ Plus 5.1.1 with run by an S905 chip. No way no how can I get this thing to show a notification bar or status bar. I guess the firmware doesn't support it.

Be damned if I can find a firmware upgrade that this box will take.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
