One click root for the Epic 4G! v2.1.1 - xda-developers
Worked for me, tethering doesnt work :/
ha that didn't take long =)
Lame. That's the only reason I want to root.
Tethering may be working, gonna test it
wifi tethering is working fine for me with this app:
wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre8 *** EXPERIMENTAL *** - Project Hosting on Google Code
I cant make it work. i get different errors each time. Very frustrating. I have tried it with the sd mounted and unmounted. I have tried the latest version and it finds the device but says reboot adb (which I am still not clear on) or device not found or says it will take 2 min and then hangs for ever. I guess I will wait awhile. I do miss the froyo that I had on my rooted droid. apps2sd and flash was nice too.
I too am missing my rooted Froyo Droid, but give it time and the Epic will be better. Within a couple of weeks we will be rooted with Froyo and have all the goodies to go along with it!
I can confirm this is working. I'm posting this from a tethered laptop, using the same app.
Alright cool gonna try rooting tonight. Never done it before. So after I root I can just download that app and wifi hotspot will work?
i will wait for the idiot proof guide to be posted =)
is it doing infrastructure mode?
Hey guys just got an epic today. Need to know if there is an easy program like unrevoked for the epic? Thanks
wow sorry i didn't read. thanks again guys
rooted and apps being installed !!!!
can u recommand some good apps that need root? thanks
I need a video guide to help, if I'm gonna try to root.
Daddy....I am like you I am coming from a TP2 and was afraid to root...till a YouTube Video came out, very easy to follow and Wifi Tethering works like a charm.
YouTube - How to root a samsung epic 4g
hi, followed ur video, downloaded wireless tethering, installed, got it to work, but cant seen to be able to connect to it (cant find my phone on my laptop) help please?
Make sure you also have your internet settings on the pc to also see "adhoc" networks.
Edit:I noticed that it uses 802.11n, so if your laptop cannot link up to "n" networks you will not see the signal, you can always go bluetooth.
Ok so i'm rooted and the tethering app runs on the phone but I can't seem to get it to connect to the computer. The computer sees the network android tether and just sits there attempting to connect... Also something interesting, after I did the root my phones touchscreen will not work when the phone is plugged in to charge... Thoughts?
how fast speeds are u getting on computer tethering from 4g enabled epic?
are the speeds faster then the speed test on epic alone?
im getting this error "adb server is out f date"... can someone help me with this please!!
I can't seem to download the drivers from the site in the post at XDA, and the drivers I download from Softpedia don't seem to work. Any ideas or suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
(NM, I figured it out, had to mount the SD card, in case you are also having the same problem.)
