Root Phone Root

Go to the Google Play(market) and download ROM Manager. Open the app and at the top select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" let that run then when finished go Backup & Restore and select "Backup Current Rom"

Ok. I did that, I noticed it was checking for an sd card, but mine wasn't installed. Does that make a difference?

My apologies to fuzzy13. I was not unpacking the zip files. I am such a noob.lol

Thanks to everyone for their help. Is there any settings or anything else I should know about or do?

It IS all personal preference= you can now customize your phone to exactly the way you want it(as you are now rooted).

I great place to stat is here:http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/460450-lg-esteem-all-things-root-guide.html

Gives some explanations on the terminology, lists available ROMS,Themes,Kernels(well most of them:rolleyes:).

As you are running ZVC the majority of the choices in there are available to you.

The best one to start with would be http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/460445-list-apps-safe-remove.html
as bloat(is the #1 killer of your battery).

Now that my phone is rooted, I was wondering if someone could help sort out what I should do next. I want to get rid of bloatware and make my phone run smoother and faster. I know nothing about roms, kernels or flashing or just about anything else. Just not sure what roms or kernels are best for my phone. I have a rooted esteem with a stock ZVD.
