Help problem connecting as disk drive

Issue:
Every time I try to connect my HTC DESIRE to my computer as a disk drive, I have to wait years, then the SENSE UI crashes and reboots itself, then I have to set the connection mode to "disk drive" again, then it takes several more years, and only then it connects.

Is there any way it could be fixed and my DESIRE will connect as fast as the GALAXY S?

The Sense UI crashed for me, a lot, after one of their updates. I use GOLauncher now.
