Root Question about my i9000M (Bell) Canada. BTW im in the USA

Okay , i need help. I bought my Galaxy S i9000M (i9000UGJH2) and rooted with the app from the Market called OCLF One Click Lag Fix. And now im trying to upgrade to 2.2 from Kies but it says THIS DEVICE CANNOT BE UPDATED.
Is there something im doing wrong? BTW im in USA and this phone is from Canada ,

Or is there a better Froyo custom rom to use?

As I understand it, Froyo for the Bell Vibrant hasnt been released yet, so that is probably why you can't update it. Just a guess though.

but can i still updated it here in the US through Kies even if im not in Canada?

And is there a good reliable fast custom rom (froyo) to Download

Take your pick. Go over to XDA and there are all kinds of froyo roms. BTW, you have to remove your lag fix before upgrading. Then you have to apply a lag fix for froyo. Lots of info here: Galaxy S I9000 Android Development - xda-developers
