After fighting the silent bug for a while - I asked for a replacement that I received today. (The box said "Like-new Certified".)

It came with 2.1, PCD: 06/28/2010, So I did not do Factory reset.

I synced with google, I got all my contacts, with icons, e-mails and calendar back.
I reinstalled googe voice, AK notepad and swype beta.

Most important difference: The Available space (memory) is 131Mb now, whereas on the old phone it was 91 Mb.

It seems I have one more bars, but I could be mistaken. (I wish I wrote down what I had before...)

How do I check for the 50% bug?

I will keep an eye of the silent bug shows up....

    Check:

Menu > Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery use > Cell standby

It's the dreaded "22% Bug" then. No, actually if you've just unplugged it from charging, give it a little time off the charger to see what happens. If you don't have it that's great.

    What?! Dayumm..
I was just about to call and go ahead with them sending my replacement. I don't have the silent bug (that I've seen), but the issue with mine is tolerable. I don't think I should take a chance in getting a problem worse than what I have.

I got a replacement or two and when I was activating it manually Verizon had to call me back, they did so and I got the silent bug on them when they called. Funny and sad all at the same time.

You still might consider the exchange. You might get lucky, and the more exchanges you go through the better your chances to be qualified for a phone upgrade.

The one way to minimize the silent bug is to pull the batterry for 90 seconds each night. (It is not the same as power cycling the phone).

Ok.... heres my thought on the standby issue.... Say you turn your phone on in the morning, and leave it in your pocket... you check it maybe once or twice a day.... at the end of the day, you check your battery usage and standby is like 70 percent.... Shouldnt that make sense? how is that a bug? If you're not using it a lot, you SHOULD have a high standby percentage... If you were using it a lot, you'll have whatever u used most as the highest percentage of battery use... Correct?

Now, if you used your phone constantly all day, and your standby percentage is still high, THEN i'd say that was a bug. but in the absence of that..... I don't see how high standby usage would be a "bug"....

They were supposed to replace my wife's Eris with a new LG Ally. First the guy messed up the address, then when we went to the fed ex place (an hour away) to pick it up, it was a used phone with no battery, no cover and no charger. I was supposed to get confirmation of the new phone being sent out today, which I never did. So I called up VZW today and they acted like I was never supposed to get a new one, and that they already shipped out a separate battery and will send out another shipment with the charger and cover.

I then said I'm going to cancel my service, so they made me the horrible offer of paying full retail minus a $50 credit, when I was promised the phone for free already, lol. I said that this was unacceptable and I wanted to speak to a supervisor, to which the girl said that I would get a call back within 24hrs. I told her that after 1 hour her phone call would be useless because I'll have canceled my service by then.

Magically she got a supervisor, who says the rep should have never offered a new Ally and that they NEVER do that. To this, she said she would do her best to get it for me at close to nothing after rebates and such. I'm supposed to hear back from her in a few minutes....so we shall see.

The bug is that it always reports 50%, no matter what. To me, its not a big issue, since it really doesn't seem to affect the phone at all.

Besides, the workaround is to go into Airplane Mode after every boot and that usually stops it.

Why would you ask something like that? You know that's only an AT&T thing.......j/k.

Would like to know what they offered/said to make you love 'em again though. I'll wait till next Friday to decide if I get them to send me a replacement.

    Ops, I forgot.

I already put the phone on the USB charger, so I might need to wait a bit more.

But at the moment the Cell stanby shows 49% and
the time without signal is 50%. Bummer.

ow if this a bug, is it only a display thing?

Seems like the question of if it's really draining the battery hasn't been answered in a way that convinces me one way or the other yet. You can put your phone into "Airplane mode" then let the phone sleep, and bring it back out to "fix" this issue. It would have to be done each time you reboot your phone.

Okay so, i can't seem to figure out how to make a new post.
    Well, this is my story.
i was visiting family forthe holidays, i wanted upgrades for my 5 line family plan from tmobile to give to my family. i called tmobile and they offered me 5 free TMobile G2's. Of course i took the offer. Anyhow, The phone got stuck to on of the shipping place. On my last day, i called tmobile and demanded i i get the phones through one of the retailers. Sure enough, they allowed me to pick a whole nes set of 5 Tmobile g2's. So now, i just got the other set of 5 tmobile g2's...it took 30 days!. It's actually right next to me.
It's very tempting to just keep them. But i want to make sure what will happen if i did.
Any similar experiences? Would tmobile make a big deal about it if i keep them or would they even noticed?
