Should I buy this phone ? Alternatives for ICS ?

I want to get an Android phone running ICS. However, I can't afford the Galaxy Nexus as an outright purchase.

I have the opportunity to get a Google Nexus S (not the galaxy nexus) with a new rom and ICS installed on it for a lot cheaper.

Or should I get another handset and have ICS installed ?

Personally, I'd rather get a phone that does not have ICS installed at the moment but will most likely get the update. Something along the lines of Galaxy W or Galaxy R, or the HTC Sensation. The Nexus S is nearing the end of its lifespan as a phone (2 years) IMO.

^ thanks for your reply. I was originally looking at an HTC Sensation. So I think that may be my route to take.

HTC Sensation is cheap nowaday, good deal I am considering except the fact that I am waiting for HTC Ville to be unveiled (software buttons here please HTC!) as HTC Edge is super overkill for me.
