Sorry, cannot play this video

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace. Everytime I go to YouTube or a friend sends me a video it comes up with an error ' sorry, cannot play this video'. I searched the forums and found a post about MX Player which I downloaded, but to no avail. Is there something I can do to fix this, no point buying a phone if it doesn't work.
