Unable to connect Samsung Galaxy S3 to wireless router

I have a Linksys router. My smart tv, laptop and other devices connect fine. I entered the password got message "authentication error". The phone connects to the wifi at verizon. I called Linksys and they want $60 to get me connected. Any help will be appreciated.

First thing to do in ALL cases like this is to restart both the phone AND the router.

Authentication error, you probably typed the wrong password ))

I had this exact same error message and it was driving me nuts. Turned out I was in putting the password for the old router when instead I should have been using the password on the back of the new router. Silly me.
