Help WIFI Hotspot NAT Question

i have not rooted my phone and dont plan on it if i dont have to but my question is how do i go about change my NAT settings from moderate to open when using the free wifi trick? i just upgraded from the imagio and had the energy rom running with the free wifi cooked in and it automaticly set the NAT to open. it would go back to moderate after while but then i would just flash the next updated rom on to fix it. I have been messing around in ##778 to find something but dont really see anything that can change that. help plz
