Easy way to put movies on evo ??

I usually use this application to convert movies into different formats for free. It is really helpful. It is called Real Player Converter. You have probably heard of real player before. Anyways it has options where you can convert the video into Iphone, HTC Incredible, Nexus One, PSP, and Blackberry formats. Movies take a while to convert (est time 2 hours for Transformers 2) but its worth it. Also they may have you download some codecs but that's not hard.

An Alternative is Aura Free Video Converter found on CNET.com. This is an okay software it is however free. It does take much longer to convert then the real player option. Both options are free so give them both a shot.

I don't know where to download movies illegally at. You could try a file sharing site or actually buying the movie.

You should be able to google torrents, and find out how to find and download movies pretty easily. I search Pirate Bay and use uTorrent to download (public domain files..ahem..:)..) Once you have your movie there are two options of watching it on your Evo:

1) Need a converter program like handbrake to convert to mp4 format (most torrents are not mp4),
or
2) You can download the RockPlayer Video player beta for Android which allows you to play wmv's, mpg's, DIVX, AVI formats and you don't need to mess with conversion (only drawback is files will be in original larger size). I totally love this option, converting takes a lot of time, and extra space on my desktop, i just have 2 or 3 movies on my handset at a time, swap out based on what i feel like watching. No hassles!!

You can search for rockplayer on this forum for more info.

this is not a easy way but i find the best way to put lots of movies on a sd card

1. i purchased spb software that copys any dvd and compressed it to a wav or what ever this is playable if you have a windows phone as is which i had 6 htc all diff in two years. the best part of software was it copys any dvd with a key it will compress it so take for example star wars it say 4gb on dvd when the spb software is dont with it you have then entire move on around 370 mb that right so you get to put lots of moves on a sd card. then i purchased software that convers the wmv to mp4 for the evo all done currently i have 12 full length movies on my 16 gb micro card with room to spare. ps dont bother with 32gb card yet because i spent 2 days with it you fine with everthing except large files like mp4 avi anything you name it the just dont workl.

AND FOR THOSE WHE DONT KNOW HTC HD3 IS COMING OUT SOMETIME IN NOV I READ BUT YOU GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MIN AND ITS HAS THE SNAPDRAGON PROCESSOR 1.5GIG you see it just google htc hd3

well gee, guess I'm dense, because I didn't read the OP's questions as asking about illegal sources. I guess because I don't know where to legally purchase and download movies from, for my EVO. I am not techy, and do not want to have to convert, reformat, or transfer anything. I don't want to stream, I want to pay, download, and watch at my convenience. Where do I go? Thanks

I don't think there is currently anything like that...although the blockbuster app for the Droid X (which i'm sure you can put on the evo) will allow purchases on the phone. Also, i believe a netflix app is in development for Android as well.

The easiest (free) way if found to convert DVDs onto your EVO is DVD Catalyst Free for HTC EVO 4G:

DVD Catalyst Free for HTC EVO 4G | Tools4Movies, the official home of DVD Catalyst

Other good products include DVD Fab (30 day trial) and Handbrake but DVD Catalyst does it all with one app, is free, and the resulting file size is much smaller than you get when using the recommended settings on the others. I'm sure the smaller size is the result of scaling back the video and audio settings however, when viewing on the EVO I could not tell much of a difference. If you are planning on using the HDMI output then you might want to opt for the others.

Hey can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? When I try to play a .mkv on my evo I just get a black screen.

I am using Rockplayer btw.

wraunch, I'm just guessing here but the inability to display your mkv file might be due to an incompatibility between the EVO's screen resolution (800 x 480) and the resolution of your video file.
