BATON ROUGE LA
has anyone had their speaker blow on this phone? my just started rattling this morning. kinda like it has a piece of something stuck in it. I tried blowing it out with one of those keyboard duster compressed air cans, and no luck. its really annoying when i talk to someone. they sound funny. I dunno if i should call htc, sprint, or bring it back to best buy. i know the people at best buy are tird of seeing me. I had two defective instinct hd's and a defective hero.

Well the sprint sore wouldnt swap it. they said because i bought it from a "third party" I'D HAVE TO GO TO BEST BUY..yipeee...i get to stand in line again.

that sucks :( the first day i got my phone, it was defaulted to maximum volume and i think it blew my speaker. waited two days to see if the issue would resolve on it's own but it didnt. took it to the sprint store, they swapped out the speaker with one from a new unit and i was good to go. took all of 15 minutes. the repair guy said it was probably one of the easiest phones he's ever worked on heh.

good luck on your best buy venture, let us know how it goes. I almost got my phone from there heh.

i have insurance, but its not covered directly from sprint. i guess i'll just go to best buy...i really dont wanna swap out my phone tho, i seem to have a good one with no bugs or issues, other than this. dangit...i knew it was too good to be true. i might try to take it apart and blow it out and see if that helps. bummer.

Well i blew it out again with the battery back off and the noise stopped. whew! i didnt wanna take this thing back, i'm having such good luck with it so far. i dont really have any issues, my battery lasts till i go to bed (what more can you ask?) i have a lag every now and then, but it seems to happen when i'm doin a few things at once. no biggie. i guess a piece of trash got stuck in there. i dunno.

Were you having problems with the ear piece when talking to someone or with the speakerphone?

I have an issue with my earpiece, where some people are just distorted no matter how low the volume is. I am thinking there is something wrong with the phone, but everything else works great.

Same problem. Tapping the back of the phone would reproduce the tinny rattle that comes through the ear speaker (not loud speaker) on the phone. It is so bad that I have to use my blue tooth earpiece to talk with some callers. My girlfriend's HTC Hero also rattles, but not as badly. My phone is under warranty. It will be replaced.

This seems to be a design/manufacturing error. It will be interesting to see if the new Nexus One suffers the same problem, since the designs seem to be so similar.
