Done with Android

Cant stand it......too many bugs....too much lag....too many apps that maybe sometimes work.......1.5 1.6 2.1 2.2 blah blah blah.......sometimes cant even make a call......apps that work with 1.5 but not with 1.6 or 2.1 but works with 2.2. No checks and balances with open source. Great....I just got the update from my phone manufacture to make my phone better.........but it just bricked my phone....or now that I updated it is made everything so slow....or now my texting is not working. Crap.....my new phone came with 2.1 on it and its already outdated.

That's all good and well but umm.....you didn't brick your phone if you can still turn it on. It's called "bricking" because it's about as useful as a brick afterward because it can't even power on or be charged, if you've actually bricked it. Plus any phone you buy will be outdated within 2 to 8 weeks. It's the nature of smartphones.

It's true that the earlier versions of Android had a lot of bugs and lag but that's quite normal for a fledging O/S. Microsoft and Apple both had the same trouble in their early days and both still do. Given how young Android is the latest version is remarkably stable.

You'll find this with any platform that allows 3rd party applications, this has nothing to do with Android.

Can't say I've come across any apps that work with 1.5 but not with 1.6/2.1 it's is most likely that the developer has not updated the app to work with the newer O/S again not Androids fault but it would be great if you could say which apps you are specifically have trouble with.

On the contrary, due to the nature of Open Source a lot more people are involved with development and testing compared with it's closed source rivals.

Crap.....my new phone came with 2.1 on it and its already outdated.

Quite normal for software and smart phones in general, you'll find that with whatever phone you move to as well.

Doesn't sound like it was actually bricked. If it was bricked that would be the end of your post.

You gotta go with what you want/need though. I'd probably do the same if my Android experience was like yours. Thankfully, it has been nothing like it.

It does sound frustrating, but don't lay the blame at Android's feet. This was a problem specific to the HTC Hero. Since I don't have one, I can't say for sure why, but I would suspect a combination of hardware with the Sense UI.
