anyways im in new york city and i just spoke to my best buy guy.

after joking around with him i eased him into telling me that the reason best buy stopped taking preorders the first time was because they knew for a fact that there would be a shortage after receiving a memo on it. He couldnt explain why bb started a second round of preorders though, he states that most bb's are getting between 10-20 units. So basically those of you who preordered the first time bb held the option, ARE pretty much guaranteed a phone.

Will Amazon have them on launch day?

Unknown, but I'm sure they will have them shortly after. Motorola isn't going to have stock issues. And I imagine Amazon.com will have them up for order on the 15th. So like I said, if it takes an extra week, that's cool with me.

My city has over 20 Corporate Stores, and the one by me said they will be getting 60-80 Droid X's....looks like I will be fine.

I can't justify Moto or Verizon intentionally causing a "shortage" to make it seem like they sold out...Wouldn't they benefit more from HUGE sales numbers? Therefore, if there IS a shortage, I think it'd be a legitimate one, not some sort of conspiracy...

Yeah but the amoled shortage makes sense (especially given samsungs new phone coming out)

Intentionally sabotaging your first release weekend when you have products available, just to stimulate demand and cause a media frenzy...just sounds like bad business...

If I were Verizon I would make sure there are enough to go around. With the Iphone4 picking up in shipments and the Evo4G out there, Id want to make sure anyone who wanted one would get one to ensure they stay with Verizon. Thats one reason Im going DX, I dont want to wait for the Iphone4 any longer or wait for them to "fix" it.

but thats like me saying apple sabotaged the itouch4 so early adopters would buy the bumper guards.....or even for apple to release a itouch4gs(which now makes calls) this year, and promote it as the best thing since blueberry pancakes.

The store in Jacksonville NC has 60 on the shelf, three of which have my name on them. Didnt bother with any pre-order just went in and made human contact with a salesman who is commission driven. I also have a 9am appointment with him on the 15th!

I am in a similar boat. I talked to a guy at the verizon store here over the phone, and he told me as I will be a new customer, I need to get a credit check down. I drove down there today, he let me play with it for like 30 minutes. I had a lot of fun on the phone.

I actually have a 5 PM appointment, and he is going to lock the ESN for me until I get there . YAY FOR VZW.

that is 30 million dollars we are talking about( im not using 1.7 million or whatever the exact sales are).

Agreed. This whole "let's launch knowing there will be a shortage so we can create hype" is bound to piss customers off and go to other carriers. I know I'll be pissed if I can't get one!!

True but the media backlash over the antenna issue isnt worth a few bumpers. Not to mention that they were planning to give them out for free. Apple rushed the Iphone4 and is now dealing with the backlash. I cant wait to see another platform take over the market.

I do not live in no where land either. Can't wait for this to release so I can find out whether I will get one or have some more damn waiting to do. It's annoying because we should all have an equal chance at getting one on opening day, and that's just not the case.

dont be upset. All of the 8 vzw stores near me denied me a preorder even til TODAY!!

good thing i went with best buy 2 weeks ago. Usually I try several sources, fortunately i was able to hit best buy early.
