Internet Sharing Questions

After I updated to the 2.1 I get the following options when I connect my phone to my computer via USB:

Charge Only
--Charge phone over USB
HTC Sync
--sync contacts and calendar
Disk Drive
--Mount as Disk Drive
Internet Sharing
--Share phone's mobile network with PC

When I click on Internet Sharing I get the following message:

Data Call Failure
"Error Code 67 .Registration failure.
Your PCS Vision username and/or
password may be incorrect. Please
try again."

However I have no way of adding that information. Is this a service you have to pay for (extra) in your Sprint Bill? Or is it a bug in the 2.1 update.

Well that error is news to me. The internet sharing ability is blocked by sprint, look into pdanet or easytether in the market. Also, you can root the phone then do it for free.

I fixed the error by calling Sprint.. but as for rooting..

I dont know if I want to take the time to root the phone since I am going to be updating to the Evo in 4 months. (or when 4G hits Columbus Ohio) whichever comes first)

Not sure if it is worth it to root and then the hassle of restoring back to factory settings.. The whole root process sounds confusing and complicated.

rooting is worth it.. and it's not complicated at all... as far as restoring back to factory settings, just as easy.
