Help! Nobody will ship the Captivate to Canada!!

I've been scouring the interwebz trying to find a retailer that carries the Samsung Captivate and will ship to Canada. I've tried:

- Best Buy
- Walmart
- Newegg
- AT&T
- Amazon (isn't listing the Captivate, just accessories)

I wasn't sure who else to check, maybe I'll just have to go for the Nexus One. Any suggestions? Would someone be able to sell me one and ship it to me?

Keep in mind that nobody has unlocked one yet...mine is only working on WiFi at the moment.

Amazon has it on AmazonWireless: Cell Phones and Plans... not sure if they'll ship to canada though.

I don't think you'll find anyone that is willing to ship this to us Canucks.....over the next week or so if my luck hasn't changed, I will definitely be making the drive over the border....my only concern is will AT&T let me walk out of the store with it without giving any account info? In other words can I just walk in buy it outright, and not be asked any questions? What if I said it was a gift, will they let me walk out without activating the phone????

I'm going to call an AT&T store now, I'll post the answers I get here after.......

Ok, after calling a couple AT&T resellers, they told me they would not let one go out of the store off contract without having to provide some kind of current AT&T account info. They suggested I call an AT&T corporate store, and they did say I could buy the phone outright and then let someone else activate the phone after I gave it to them (which I'm not doing).

So it sounds like it won't be a problem for us Canadians to buy one at a corporate store and unlock it to use here in Canada. The CSR assured me I would have no issues buying the phone and walking out with it (no activation or account info needed).

Now.....can it be unlocked? Most unlocking sites won't charge you unless they can unlock it, but I still don't want to be stuck with a phone I can't use just cause I can't unlock it......

Ebay, last I checked had one Captivate listed for $650US.....too much $$$$

Are you saying the phone is locked to AT&T (which I knew), or are you saying there's no way to unlock it yet? Cause I have seen a couple of sites offering unlock codes for the Captivate......but will my IMEI be found?

Make sure it IS able to be unlocked. But I tried the "gift for my boyfriend" sob story with my Tilt 2 and they let me buy it out of contract for full price. (speaking of, anyone want a tilt2?) Just walk into the store and be ready to pay the non-contract price. They should be willing to sell it to you. IDK about the unlocking part.

Yeah I don't know anyone who has Simunlocked it yet. I'm sure you can. I was just saying so you don't spend all this time slap in a sim card and be like "Nooooo"
