News on the Sony Experia family Eclaire (2.1) update

OK I feel sick now...

If it's just an update to 2.1!

The only thing this will give us is well, maybe live wallpapers if sony enable this option? A touch more speed but not much and maybe a slight improvement to battery life!

Please remember Sony tweaked the crap out of 1.6 so the X10 is almost identical to the HTC desire in lots of the things it can do. The only differences me and my mate can see form my X10 to his desire is what I listed above!

GIVE US 2.2 FFS SE!

Yeah!

And you would also have brought the phone as a SE spokesman confirmed the X10 will have muti touch after an update but no, after they have made a profit from the phone another SE spokesman says that "it will never have multi touch due to the hardware".

Out of interest what phone company's did confirm that their phone would have a 2.1 or 2.2 update?

Also it's meant to be their flagship phone so why make sure that is out of date from the moment it came out?

EDIT: neither do I KD.

Timescape is actually useless!

Kamm going by what I have seen around the net about them two "killer" apps most people don't use or need them.

Timescape is and has been called by others as flashy RSS feed and mediascape is not that special ok it combines 3 apps in one.

Just out of interest what do you find you like about them and what makes them so important to your phone use experience?

Personally I gave up with timescape as the fb updates are just that and if I tapped on a tile where a friend had posted a status it would not do anything so I had to open the fb app to reply now I just run the fb widget on the desk top as I find it more advanced. I don't tweet and I don't need to see what music I have downloaded from spotify read the above posts by others it looks great in the adverts but not in real life.

I'm sure if you started a poll about it it would come out more people don't use it.

I'm not trying to attack you here as I just read my post back and it could be taken as aggressive, its not just would like to hear what you live it for as I only ever see posts about how people hate it. It would be nice to hear some positives about it :)

Im fairly new to the smat phones i really like the look of the x10 which is why i went for the phone, iv bin a regular user of my ipod touch and didnt really want the iphone as i wanted something bit diff,
iv bin a fan of SE for quite a few yrs now and hav never really had a problem with um, so the x10 looked to be everyting i would want, i hav found it to be a bit off a let down so far and wasnt really up to wot i thought it was gonna be,

as for the 2 killer apps, well,

i do like the mediascape and how it all rolls together, But... i hav found the audio side of it is pretty poor sound isnt wot you would expect from SE

Timescape well... it looks great and i like the idea of it BUT... its useless, as powerkiter and KD said, jus well run the fb/twitter app as u end up going there anyway

Powerkite,

no offense taken - as I already already explained, about 100 times already... ;)

1. Timescape is NOT a battery killer and there's nothing else that would streamline everything into one UI. Spend some time turning off what doesw not matter to you and it will be fine.
2. Moreover there isn't ANY media center app EVEN REMOTELY COMPARABLE TO MEDIASCAPE ON ANDROID. Nothing, nada, nil. Seriously, there is none.
3. Neither of them without bugs, of course but so far they are vastly superior to anything out there including iCrap's audio player. It's also annoying to transcode mkv etc but you can also simply buy RockPlayer and use it for watching your TV shows in xvids, mkvs (just who the hell wants to watch feature movies on a 4" screen anyway? :D)
4. Lastly, no, I do not have any problem with battery life nor with my stereo BT audio volume. It might be my phone or my BT or just people don't have a clue or they are half-def ******s from clubs, I don't know. :)

Rest of the comments are downright clueless - see "jus well run the fb/twitter app as u end up going there anyway" and I have no time to care about them.

Sorry I asked for positive comments you sound like Steve Jobs talking about the iphone?

For me.

1 I never noticed timescape using any more battery and yes I did strip it down to facebook, text and emails. I still had to run the fb app and I knew if an email or text came through as it would be in the notification bar.

2 Your right about the all in one part but if Zimly had a picture viewer built into it, it would far out perform Media scape in terms of looks and sound and video playback, it even plays videos in full screen mode when mediascape wont for me that alone blows it out of the water.

3 I still sight Zimly as being a nicer interface and supiror playback quality and the best part is when you delete a file a box pops up saying "Are you sure you wish to cast this file into the firey pits of hell never to return?" Come on how can that be a bad thing? You smile as you delete something, now imagine if it did pictures and when you deleted them pictures of your ex that cheated on you up comes a box saying "Are you sure you wish to cast this file into the firey pits of hell never to return?" :) Plus I watch a lot of stuff on my phone either sitting at the beach waiting for the wind or if camping/kiting trip.

4 Not sure what you mean? All media players run through the same amplifier circuit on the phone so mediascape and all other players are the same volume (except one that had a built in frequency booster but it sounded awful) but as I said I did not find any extra battery use.

Your last comment was just an attack at a reasonable quote as that is what most people do anyway so does that class everyone who doesn't like the app clueless?

The only reason for them I can see is it makes it far easier for people coming to Android to do what was always a button press or two away on a normal phone. Well that was how I found it. When I first got the phone the two apps where great but as I started to understand the OS and how apps work and discovered more media apps and finding the fb widget I have not used them as I have found my own way that makes me happy and I find easy.

This is the whole point of Android it's open source so we can all have what we want not be forced to use X Y or Z we can use what ever one we like.

equating fb/tw with Timescape is just downright hilarious. :p

To be fair if that is not a "high horse statement" then it sure is a "get down off you pedestal statement"

I put it to you on good grounds that you sir are a fanboi :D

EDIT: OK so this thread has now drifted away from the op's topic but there have been over 230 views and only you are defending these two apps.

So maybe it could be that your "comments are downright clueless" ???

Lets stop this app bashing on this thread!

If you really wish to prove your point then start another thread with a poll asking who likes the apps and who doesn't. You will sure get your clueless posts rolling in then :D
